Summary : Under general direction of a principal, provides leadership in an educational environment that encourages and nurtures learning for all students.
Provides supervision to students in a variety of school related settings, monitors and evaluates student outcomes, develops, selects or modifies lessons plans to ensure all student needs are met, and maintains appropriate records and follows all policies and procedures of NCDPI, CMS and the North Carolina Board of Cosmetic Art Examiners.

Demonstrates knowledge of subject matter and centers instruction on high expectations for student mastery of course content.
Creates and plans effective curriculum based projects and activities correlated to specific cosmetic art techniques.
Demonstrates effective teaching practices.
Demonstrates cosmetic art techniques to students as a group and one-on-one, helping them to master skills essential to the industry.
Demonstrates effective classroom, clinic floor and dispensary management.
Instructs and demonstrates proper safety practices, procedures and standards.
Provides students with opportunities to practice their skills and cosmetic art knowledge.
Models client engagement and coach students as they provide services to live clients.
Uses multiple student data elements for the purpose of assessing student progress, modifying instruction and improving student learning.
Provides students with clear expectations, continual feedback, and logical consequences.
Engages students in career exploration and entrepreneurship in the cosmetic arts industry.
Exhibits collaborative and collegial practices focused on improving instructional practice and student learning by participating in professional learning communities, showing professionalism, and growing professionally
Participates in field trips to post-secondary institutes, worksites, businesses and hands-on workshops
Fosters and manages a safe, positive, and respectful learning environment for the purpose of promoting effective student behavior, success and client engagement
Assist in development of and participate in activities designed to promote an innovative salon business.
Establishes relationships with colleagues, students, parents and community which reflect recognition of and respect for every individual.
Develops community and industry partnerships for students.
Maintain and submit appropriate records including student hours and other documents as required by the North Carolina Board of Cosmetic Art Examiners
Manages inventory control including request to purchase salon products, supplies, equipment and tools
Performs related duties as assigned.

Preferred Degree Level : Associate of Applied Science Degree in Cosmetology
NC Cosmetic Art License
NC Cosmetic Art Board Certified Instructor License
Required Years of Work Experience for the CTE
Restricted route : 4 years within past 5 years
Examples of Related Work Experience : cosmetology instructor at a beauty / cosmetology school or community college; hair stylists, esthetician, manicurist, hair braider
Minimum Degree Level : Certificate or diploma in cosmetology

Physical Requirements : Work requires the ability to bend, stand, and walk in a school salon for extended periods on a daily basis.
