Hourly rate is an estimate only which includes shift differential for evenings or weekend shifts. Overall hourly rates will vary based on schedule.

If you qualify for a higher level the exact compensation will vary based on skills and experience.

Primary Purpose :

Responsible for the physical security of organization facility, operating under moderate supervision.

Essential Functions :

  • Carries a firearm and understands when to use the firearm according to policy.
  • Controls access to client site or facility through the admittance process; assists visitors with a legitimate need to gain entry to the facility;

screens visitors and client employees in an efficient manner in order to expedite their admittance to the site or facility.

Periodically patrols assigned site checking for unsafe conditions, hazards, unlocked doors, security violations, blocked ingress and egress, mechanical problems, and unauthorized persons;

inspects buildings and grounds using appropriate equipment and protective gear.

  • Observes and reports incidents or suspicious activity to company management or public safety authorities as appropriate for the circumstances.
  • Monitors access to buildings, grounds, and parking lots.
  • Prepares logs, reports, and other security documents as assigned.
  • Investigates any criminal or non-criminal activities as assigned.
  • Responds to general calls for service, such as accessing locked buildings and providing escorts.
  • Assists in educating new and current employees on safety and security policies and procedures.
  • Position requires the use of company vehicles on company business. Individuals must be at least 21 years of age and physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid driver’s license, and have an acceptable driving record (no moving violations within two years).

Individuals must have knowledge of the geography of the community.

  • Individuals must comply with ARUP’s drug free workplace policy and will be subject to random drug screens. ARUP policy requires pre-employment, post-accident, and random drug screen.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Physical and Other Requirements :

  • Valid Utah Driver’s License : 1) No moving violations within the previous two years 2) No alcohol / drug-related violations on record with the Driver’s License Division.
  • Physical condition : required to pass a physical fitness evaluation.
  • Stooping : Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist.
  • Reaching : Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
  • Mobility : The person in this position needs to occasionally move between work sites and inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Communicate : Frequently communicate with others.
  • PPE : Biohazard laboratory environment that requires use of personal protective equipment in accordance with CDC and OSHA regulations and company policies.
  • ARUP Policies and Procedures : To conduct self in compliance with all ARUP Policies and Procedures.
  • Light Work : Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and / or up to 10 pounds of force frequently and / or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
  • Fine Motor Control : Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand as in handling.
  • Vision : Having close, far, and peripheral visual acuity to perform a variety of tasks such as making general observations of depth and distance.
  • Stressful Conditions : Working in a high energy and intense environment that requires quick response and maintaining composure.

Motivations

Education Required

High School Diploma or Equivalent or better.

Experience Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent and 2 years of security officer or related experience.
  • Successfully complete a psych evaluation and physical fitness test prior to employment.
  • Successfully complete instructed class on armed security, live range test, and obtain Utah Private Security Officer license within 90 days of employment.
  • Concealed Carry Permit.

Preferred

  • Two years - four years of armed security, Military, Police officer or equivalent job experience.
  • Three years of experience in the fields of security, law enforcement, military, or intelligence.
  • One year of experience exercising standard security concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Fluency in a second language.
  • Previous experience as a Security Officer.
  • Basic computer skills.

Licenses & Certifications Required

  • Driver License.
  • Private Security Officer.
