The Wesleyan is hiring full-time Certified Nursing Aides (CNAs) to work all shifts within our Skilled Nursing and Rehab community at The Wesleyan.
CNA's are the direct caregivers of the residents within our Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation community and are critical for making a positive difference in the life of our residents.
An active CNA certification in the state of Texas and experience as a CNA in a long-term care environment along with a servant-minded approach to caring for others is absolutely essential to the success of this position.

A current, active Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) license in Texas is required to be considered for this position
We are currently hiring for the following shifts :
- Full-time - 2 : 00 P.M to 10 : 00 P.M.
- Full-time - 10 : 00 P.M to 6 : 00 A.M.
- Full-time - 6 : 00 A.M. to 2 : 00 P.M.
Essential Job Functions :
- Perform all Nursing Aide procedures as directed in accordance with job description and instructions from Charge Nurse.
- Follow written and oral directions.
- Follow resident rights policies at all times.
- Assist new employees in following established facility policies and procedures.
- Conduct resident rounds as assigned with oncoming or outgoing shift.
- Ensure residents have their call lights in reach. Answer call lights promptly.
- Be responsible for residents under your supervision.
- Identify resident problems and report them immediately to a licensed nurse.
- Report changes in resident condition to charge nurse or nurse supervisor.
- Report any unusual symptoms (temperature, rash, etc.) to charge nurse within the shift they occur.
- Report any accidents or incidents to Charge Nurse (falls, etc.) within the shift they occur.
- Complete assignments timely, completely and accurately within the shift.
- Deliver direct care to residents, providing rehabilitative care when directed and necessary and render care in accordance with the Nursing Care Plan.
- Assist residents with bathing, oral care, dressing / undressing, toileting, perineal care, catheter care, grooming, eating and checking vital signs.
- Perform light housekeeping chores in order to keep the residents' room and unit within the standards of neatness and cleanliness required by the Nursing Home and regulatory agencies.
- Ensure residents are given adequate assistance with meals, nourishment and transportation to meal service area.
- Supervise and assist residents with prescribed meals as needed and feed residents who cannot feed themselves.
- Must be able to deal with possible agitated and confused residents that at times can become physically aggressive.
- Encourage and motivate resident to participate in recreational, occupational, and physical therapy to promote activity of mind and body and other activities of daily living.
- Record accurately and timely, the care provided to the resident.
- Must be able to deal in a professional manner with coworkers, residents, resident family members, visitors, etc.
- Participate in in-service classes as assigned and complete 12 hours in-service as designed by federal regulations.
- Consistently work cooperatively with residents, nurses, other nursing assistants, physicians, nurse practitioners, families, administration, consultant personnel and ancillary service providers.
Qualifications & Experience :
- A current, active, unencumbered Nurse Aide Certification from the Texas Department of Health is required and must be kept current and active.
- Must be in good physical and mental condition and willing to work with an older / senior population.
- Must have patience, tact, cheerful disposition and enthusiasm and be able to handle residents based on whatever maturity, cognitive and medical / physical level they are currently functioning.
- Must have the ability to work despite frequent interruptions.
- Must be able to speak, read, and write English with clarity sufficient to communicate clearly with residents, family members, and teammates, take direction from nurse managers and other supervisors, and follow instructions and identify materials from product and medication labels and understand their directions for use.
- Must be able to take directions and supervision, follow directions and to work on a team providing care and general functions of a nursing unit.
- Must have a service-minded approach to all aspects of the job.
