Description
Position : Customer Service Representative
Start Date : November 4, 2024
Rate of Pay : $20.00 per hour
FLSA Status : Non-exempt
Purpose : Works under general supervision of a Supervisor to perform technical duties in the automated processing and issuance of motor vehicle and vessel registrations and titles, licenses, and collection of fees and ad valorem (property) taxes in accordance with well-defined policies and procedures.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities (*Essential Job Functions)
Process work and respond to inquiries related to new applications, renewals and transfers of motor vehicle and vessel registrations and titles*
Process work and respond to inquiries related to driver licenses and ID cards, property taxes, business tax licenses, hunting and fishing licenses, Florida birth certificates, and concealed weapons permits*
Collect and record all fees and taxes related to such issuance, applications, renewals, or transfers*
Enter changes in ownership, assessed value, exemptions, and related information to property tax rolls*
Interpret rules, regulations, statutes, and policies of the departments and agencies governing the transactions being completed*
Generate and maintain accurate correspondence, files, and reports*
May administer driving tests
Job Specifications (including knowledge, skills, abilities, and physical requirements)
Knowledge of Tax Collector policies, procedures, and documentation
Knowledge of customer service practices
Oral and written communication skills
Excellent attention to detail
Skilled in examining documents for accuracy
Skilled in cashiering and money handling
Skilled in the use of agency or state databases such as FRVIS, ORION, Property Tax, or Business Tax
Ability to use a computer, keyboard and general office software and equipment
Ability to evaluate customer information to determine course of action
Ability to work effectively with others
Ability to perform accurate computations and verifications of data
Ability to enter data in various computer systems accurately
Ability to ride in or operate a motor vehicle up to 15% of the time (when administering driving tests)
Work requires regular and reliable attendance
Work is typically sedentary but requires standing or walking up to 50% of the time
Some tasks may involve reaching, pulling, pushing, climbing, kneeling, bending or lifting (up to 10 lbs.)
Working Conditions
Work is generally performed in an indoor office environment without hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, or adverse weather or environmental conditions.
When administering driving tests, work is performed outside with potential for exposure to adverse weather and environmental conditions including but not limited to dirt, dust, pollen, odors, fumes, humidity, rain, and temperature and noise extremes.
Requirements
Qualifications
HS / GED and one year of customer service experience involving contact with the public;
A passing score on pre-employment test(s) (if applicable); and
Possession of a valid Florida Driver License.
