The Retail Operations Sales Manager is primarily responsible for the management and development of a group of retail sales representatives.
The Retail Area Sales Manager is responsible for representing Cacique through retail sales execution of MAPS objectives set forth by Cacique Business Development Managers or Regional Sales Managers to achieve superior in-store results in assigned geography / stores.
The Retail Area Sales Manager will own the execution of sales and merchandising plans designed to increase sales, profits and market share in the assigned territory.
Required Skills
Responsibilities of this position include (duties / essential functions) :
- Deliver sales fundamentals (distribution / assortment, shelving, pricing and merchandising) MAPS goals across all customers on agreed-to retail priorities.
- Ensure all MAPS execution activities & competitive activities are captured via Go Spot Check (GSC) by the Retail selling organization.
Continually improve sales results and productivity of the retail selling / execution organization.
Work cross-functionally with internal Sales BDMs / RSMs to achieve superior in-store results in line with Cacique goals & objectives and with customer HQ expectations.
Collaborate with Sales to execute major retail initiatives (new product introductions, contests, etc.).
- Serve as expert resource to Cacique leadership and Sales BDMs / RSMs on the effectiveness of retail execution.
- Ensure company policies are followed by directly managed associates. This includes but is not limited to proper maintenance of all company owned equipment, accurate and timely activity reporting (GSC / MOTUS).
- Effectively and accurately use technology including GSC (go spot check); communicate retail priorities and coverage analyses to maintain an effective feedback and measurement system.
- Request and analyze specific retail conditions information (through GSC, surveys, etc.) to develop data-based analyses and improve retail in-store presence results.
- Supervise, monitor and evaluate the personal development of Retail Sales associates and conduct annual Performance Reviews.
Train and develop retail sales representatives.
- Conduct on-going recruiting and retain members of the Retail selling organization.
- Maintain incident files for all Retail selling organization in accordance with company policy.
- Utilize MOTUS to record mileage usage and provide oversight to Retail selling organization on MOTUS use.
- Responsible for special projects as requested by Retail Sales Operations Manager.
Required Experience
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent required : Bachelors degrees is strongly preferred.
- 5+ years retail sales execution responsibility required, preferably in consumer product goods industry.
- 3+ years direct retail sales management experience preferred.
- Proficient with Smart Phones, Smart Phone apps, as well as MS Office Professional Suite.
- Periodic lifting (up to 65lbs), bending, reaching and kneeling, and occasional weekend work.
- Effective time-management & scheduling skills, with the ability to balance multiple projects simultaneously.
- Self-motivated and ability to work independently within a large market and multitask across multiple direct reports and a large number of stores / retailers with differing priorities.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills; able to effectively communicate cross-functionally and through all levels of management.
Ability to effectively convey market insights & conditions to customer and Cacique leadership.
Must have a personal vehicle, a valid drivers license, and excellent driving record for use during work hours.
