The Assistant Director of Marketing will serve an integral role in the overall marketing and promotion of Northwestern Athletics with a primary focus on select sport programs, in particular the Cats Women’s Basketball and Softball programs.
Reporting to the Associate Athletic Director for External Affairs, this position will facilitate the development and execution of strategic plans supporting brand awareness, ticket sales and other revenue generating initiatives.
Pending experience level and qualifications this position may be elevated to Associate Director of Marketing. They will work closely with all members of the Athletic Department as well as numerous contacts outside the University community.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO :
- Serve as the contact from the Marketing department for select cross-functional teams overseeing various sports programs.
- For assigned sports programs, facilitate the creation and implementation of a comprehensive marketing, ticket sales, social media and public relations plan including coordinating calendars and timelines with each external affairs unit.
- Act as the gameday event director and producer for assigned sports programs which entails writing game scripts, directing in-game fan experience elements, working to ensure sponsorship fulfillment and the scheduling and onsite oversight of gameday staff.
- Serve as a liaison between the sports program and the department's community relations area to enhance the profile of the team's involvement in the community.
- Assist in the execution of the gameday events for home football and other assigned games including, but not limited to, overseeing and managing interns to ensure on-field / on-court sponsorship elements are appropriately executed, planning and executing gameday operations, and assisting with activation of ticket sales initiatives.
- Assist with special programs and community relations events for the athletic department.
- Serve as the liaison for the marketing department with various constituents on campus, as well as within the Evanston and Chicago communities.
- Responsible for adhering to all Department and University policies and procedures, as well as the rules, regulations, bylaws and interpretations of the Big Ten Conference and the NCAA.
- Responsible for adhering to all Department and University continuing education initiatives and required certifications and trainings.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree;
OR appropriate combination of education and experience. Two years or more of relative experience in advertising, marketing, graphic design, content creation, public relations or other similarly related field.
Previous experience working for a collegiate or professional athletics team, organization or league. Proven track record of delivering success in the areas marketing, graphic and web design, content creation, public relations.
Previous experience with game production programs (ShoFlo, Click Effects, Sound Director, etc). Previous experience with paid digital and email marketing systems and processes.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively across all teams. Strong organizational and time management skills Professional verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills Ability to work in dynamic fast paced environment Ability to handle multiple tasks at once and meet deadlines Knowledge of rules and regulations of the NCAA, Big Ten Conference and Northwestern University preferred Ability to work cooperatively with others and effectively interact with diverse populations.
