Our client is a long-standing family business located in the Northwest suburbs. This mid-sized manufacturing company is hiring a Human Resources Director.
This individual will have to be strategic enough to help the executive team make organization-wide decisions while being hands-on enough to perform many of the day-to-day HR duties.
The HR Director serves as the leader for all aspects of HR management of the organization including regulatory compliance, employee relations, performance management, benefit administration, training and development, payroll, employee counseling, recruitment, compensation, safety, and other company specific programs, as assigned.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS / RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Work in partnership with Exec committee to identify the human resources elements of company’s business plan, and develop programs, policies, and practices needed to achieve it.
- Manage new employee orientation / onboarding program.
- Oversees Human Resource information systems (HRIS).
- Administer company’s safety programs and OSHA compliance.
- Maintain job descriptions, skills and knowledge matrixes, and organizational chart.
- Directs the administration of all benefit programs to include all health, dental, vision, life / AD&D, STD, LTD, 401(k), FSA, HSA, unemployment compensation and workers' compensation programs.
- Develops and maintains an effective recruitment process (branding, advertising, posting, sourcing, testing, reference / background check, on-boarding etc.).
- Works with the hiring managers and executives in the recruitment and selection of all exempt and nonexempt employees.
- Manage the human resources elements involved in structural and staff changes. Work with management team to identify, anticipate and address staff-related outcomes of such change.
- Maintain and upgrade performance management and review program. Ensure required procedures and documentation are followed, and reviews are complete and on time.
Offer on-going coaching and assistance to management.
- Works with the top management team in developing compensation strategy.
- Directs and monitors the development and / or delivery of employee training programs.
- Reviews Human Resource programs and policies to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Develop Key Performance Indicators / Scorecard to measure relevant HR activities and goals.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE :
- Ten years related experience and progressive HR experience supporting a profit-making enterprise.
- Experience working in a manufacturing or distribution environment required.
- Experience with privately led company required, family business a plus.
- Experience with a smaller HR department of 5 or less people somewhere in their career to ensure the person is hands on.
- Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
