Role Description :

Design Manager leads a team of designers focused on delivering creative and thoughtful design. The design manager ensures design and project deadlines are met, designs adhere to established specifications and standards, and prepare project schedules, bids, or design proposals.

The design manager has a keen eye on the future and how technology can increase productivity while enhancing the client experience.

Detailed Responsibilities :

Team Management :

• Develop departmental guidelines, procedures and provide daily direction to the team.
• Set annual performance goals and objectives for the design team and provide regular feedback on individual performance.
• Deliver critical feedback where needed and encourage team members throughout project timelines, evaluate / review specifications and provide guidance on best product approach to project.
• Skilled at aligning design talent to teams / projects based on strengths and balanced team workload and manage desired utilization.
• Process / System expert Exceptionally strong technical abilities that can be leveraged to influence efficient processes, strong collaboration.

Provides direction on project specifications, recommends value engineering options, and reviews and audits designers specifications for accuracy.

Evaluate use of technology within existing processes and recommend efficiencies that enhances team productivity.

Develop & Recruit Talent - Skilled and experienced at identifying individual designer talents, build upon strengths, and help round out developmental opportunities.

Ability to spot top talent and successfully attract talent. Assist in hiring, onboarding, and training any new hires.

Business Development :

Influential Presenter Understands and embodies current trends, actively monitors evolution of trends, and drives organization to stay ahead of trend, builds audience confidence, represents trends effectively, and communicates relevance of such trends to customers / influencers.

Assist in client work and comfortable engaging client directly.

• Able to deliver the LOTH story to our clients and actively participate in showroom tours.
• Design project work as needed.
• Works collaboratively with sales leaders to ensure we deliver on the client commitment.
• Develop and implement successful design strategies, outlining how the design team will create deliverables and implement.
• Continue to improve our Design services by ensuring that we are leaders in the industry through automation, work processes, and knowledge.
• Track and evaluate feedback - filtering through customer surveys and responses to create an overall picture of how well the design performed and provide direction on improvements for future projects.
• Expert Relationship Builder With customers and internal partners credible, dependable, authentic, transparent.
• Maintain contacts with other Design / Dealer professionals to identify market-based perspectives as well as obtain membership in at least one active community group.
• Participate in client sponsored events and LOTH sponsored community engagements

Required Education and Experience

• Bachelors’ degree or equal experience.
• 3-5 years design experience.
• CET experience preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to travel outside of the office, including occasional overnight travel.
