Reynolds is one of the largest community colleges in Virginia and serves Virginia’s capital city and five nearby counties.
Annually, our four campus sites serve approximately 13,000 credit students and provide training for 7,400 students through the Community College Workforce Alliance.

The Associate Dean reports to the Dean of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, and will assist with strategic planning, leadership, supervision and management for the school and its faculty, staff and students to ensure consistency in the delivery of academic services.
The Associate Dean will utilize the college dashboard for data driven decisions. The Associate Dean will coordinate with other academic and administrative units of the college to plan, implement and assess quality educational courses and programs. Special Assignments
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
KSA's / Required Qualifications Extensive knowledge of higher education or community college administration practices and principles;
instructional methods and technology and personnel administration. Demonstrated skill in project management, assessment and reporting.
- Demonstrated ability to utilize data dashboards and other current software. Demonstrated ability to develop and monitor academic programs;
- conduct course assessments and evaluations; and make faculty assignments and teaching loads. Demonstrated ability to supervise full-time and part-time faculty and staff;
and conduct employee evaluations.
Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, allocate resources. Demonstrated ability to perform administrative functions including : strategic planning, annual reporting, and equipment management.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with a diverse population of internal and external stakeholders.
The selected candidate will be required to complete the Commonwealth’s Statement of Economic Interest, and must successfully pass the college’s pre-employment security screening.
Master’s degree with 18 graduate semester hours in a related field of study, or commitment to obtain 18 graduate semester hours that would qualify the candidate to teach in one of the school’s programs.
Additional Considerations Previous administration of one or more of the following : transfer degree programs; career technical programs; dual enrollment programs.
Experience in program or curriculum design. Experience in delivering or developing distance learning education or training.
Progressive experience in a variety of management positions. Experience with grant development and coordination. Previous teaching experience at the community college level.
Operation of a State Vehicle No Supervises Employees Yes Required Travel As needed between campuses, and to conferences and meetings.
