About The Position
Job Summary :
- Prioritizes and coordinates ultrasound exams with nursing units, radiologists, and referring physicians.
- Performs ultrasound exams by departmental protocols and standards.
- Provides adequate patient care related to the exam requested.
- Operates ultrasound and associated equipment proficiently.
Essential Functions :
- Examine requests and verify orders for each assigned patient.
- Assists radiologists in performing invasive procedures.
- Evaluate the technical quality of exams and develop superior techniques for department efficiency.
- Supports and contributes to the Patient-Centered Care Philosophy, meeting the needs of each patient.
- Reports malfunctioning equipment to the Assistant Director, Lead Sonographer, and / or Engineer.
- Operates the Radiology computer system, including entering and charging exams and supplies.
- Maintains a neat and orderly work area and ensures it is fully stocked.
- Adheres to departmental rules and regulations while performing professionally at all times.
Skills :
- Certified by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers or the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (S) required.
- BLS HCP certification from AHA is required.
- Strong interpersonal skills required.
Education :
Graduate of a comprehensive medical diagnostic ultrasound program preferred.
