Summary

The Treasury Operations Manager is responsible for efficiently and effectively managing the movement of cash in and out of the Bank.

This individual will lead a team that acts as the primary line of defense to protect the Bank from fraud and loss. The ideal candidate must react with high urgency to daily activity and be comfortable incorporating new and effective ways to achieve better results.

Responsibilities

Team Management

  • Oversee daily activity and workflow within the department and serve as a backup for key functional areas as needed.
  • Maintain an overall team calendar and schedule to ensure coverage with key deadlines and wire activities.
  • Implement and monitor operational policies and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant Banking regulations.
  • Lead a team of Analyst, Specialists, and Associates, with a continued focus on performance excellence, mentorship, and development.
  • Ensure compliance with all established policies and procedures to prevent fraud or loss.
  • Maintain strong interpersonal relationships with senior management, peers, and team members throughout the Bank.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily payment processing :
  • Manage the execution of large volume of domestic and international wires.
  • Set up ACH and handling exceptions.
  • Oversee check processing and returns.
  • Institute and manage OFAC and other BSA / AML protocols.
  • Maintain full control of daily cash position :
  • Balance and report on ATM switch, cash vaults, and branch tills.
  • Reconcile outages with general ledger with accounting.
  • Manage Bank control accounts :
  • Administer the Bank’s internal deposit and payment accounts.
  • Monitor the cash flows and ensure compliance.
  • Develop and maintain expertise in core banking operating systems :
  • Develop team’s knowledge and expertise on current platforms.
  • Identify and implement new technologies to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Develop and adhere to stringent operating procedures :
  • Maintain detailed operating protocols, forms, and system(s) of record.
  • Update procedures as necessary to prevent emerging risk and threats of fraud.
  • Deliver management reports summarizing activity as well as areas for improvement and concern.
  • Institute an operations strategy that :
  • Keeps pulse on industry trends and benchmarks performance.
  • Locates new products and services to improve client satisfaction and / or streamline operations.
  • Identifies and mitigates emerging risks of loss and fraud.
  • Ensures department team members are properly trained and are provided the appropriate resources to perform their roles successfully.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred; High school diploma required.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive experience in banking operations, treasury or payment operations, deposit operations, and / or wire room functions.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of people management experience, including performance management, coaching and goal setting.
  • Demonstrates a fundamental understanding of the banking industry, as well as a complete understanding of all banking products and services.
  • Strong knowledge of banking regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Embodies the Fortis Bank culture principles and competencies and consistently demonstrating a positive, ambitious, and solution-oriented attitude with clients and team members.
  • Proficient and experienced in Microsoft Office suite products and technology, including but not limited to : Outlook, Microsoft Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong ability to adapt to systems and technology, including but not limited to : client relationship management tools, banking core systems, and other common office management products.
  • Communicates effectively and professionally, both verbally and via e-mail and other chat tools.
  • Excellent organizational skills, regularly demonstrating the ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently.
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build meaningful professional relationships with senior management and team members.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Reporting Structure : Reports to the Treasurer.

Office Requirements : This position offers a hybrid work schedule and is required to work in a Fortis Bank office location at least four days per week.
