The Product Management team guides the strategy and vision for Disney’s incredible global digital products portfolio - from Disney+, Hulu, ESPN+ and the ESPN App to Marvel Unlimited, National Geographic, ABC and ABC News, and film websites and games.

This team impacts the way millions of people around the world experience and engage with Disney’s iconic stories and unmatched content in more personalized and immersive ways, leveraging cutting-edge technologies ranging from Machine Learning to Extended Reality.

Job Summary

Creating a unique and relevant experience for each and every subscriber is fundamental to bringing Disney magic to life.

We aim to tailor our products for every subscriber, quickly connecting them to content and experiences they’ll love in meaningful, new ways.

Delivering a personalized experience is both art and science, relying on content expertise, an understanding of Disney’s business goals, machine learning, human psychology, and rapid experimentation.

The work we do has a huge impact Disney Streaming enables experiences for hundreds of millions of subscribers globally across Disney+, Hulu, Star+ and ESPN+.

And we’re just getting started.

We are looking for a Sr. Product Manager who will lead the strategy, roadmap, and execution for personalization on Hulu.

Whether it’s solving for specific subscriber cohorts or experimenting with cutting-edge machine learning, this is a position that will have an incredibly broad impact on the direct customer experience for millions of subscribers.

This is an ideal role for someone who thrives in ambiguity and has a proven track record of contributing to the product strategy and roadmap for a complex personalization and machine learning space.

You should be able to balance pragmatism with product intuition to achieve meaningful results amongst a rapidly growing and changing subscriber base.

Responsibilities

  • Own the strategy, roadmap, and execution for a portfolio of Personalization products, crafting new discovery experiences, and driving advertising revenue
  • Deliver on a product strategy and roadmap across our Disney+, Hulu, Star+, and ESPN+ products that balances broader Disney strategic goals for our increasingly diverse subscriber base
  • Partner closely with Engineering, Content Programming, Machine Learning, Data Analytics, and Experimentation Platform teams to deliver personalization and machine learning features
  • Serve as a thought leader in the personalization and recommendations space, fielding questions from other teams, advocating for best practices, and sharing learning across the organization
  • Deliver business impact through personalization and machine learning products. We’re a team that nerds out about algorithms and new research in service of business impacts such as increasing subscriber engagement and retention.
  • Pitch and assess new initiatives with the critical lens of an investor. We have limited bandwidth and plenty of opportunities to improve.

What should we do first?

Basic Qualifications

  • 7+ years of product management or other relevant experience required
  • Familiarity with machine learning fundamentals, experience working closely with a machine learning engineering team
  • Experience launching products that had multiple cross-team dependencies
  • Data-focused mindset and proven ability to use data to explore all aspects of a problem and analyze solutions
  • Excellent presentation skills and clear, logical communication style so you can represent our product strategy and roadmap to engineering, business, and product leadership

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working on consumer-facing products, ideally personalization, recommendations, machine learning, or data science
  • You have strong product sense in what makes a compelling consumer products and delightful user experiences
  • You focus on impact and naturally frame your work in terms of impact, effort, and cost in order to maximize your chances of delivering a successful product
  • You’re passionate about machine learning, personalization, and love speaking with developers on how to leverage ML / algorithms to build a better user experience
  • Experience working in a fast-paced organization with multiple consumer products
  • Familiar with A / B experimentation methods and hypothesis-driven development
  • Systems thinker - proactive, structured, long-term thinker rather than reactive
  • Strong interest in streaming products and media & entertainment

Required Education

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field required

The hiring range for this position in Santa Monica, CA is $149,300 to $200,200 per year, in NYC is $156,300 to $209,600 per year and in San Francisco is $163,500 to $219,200 based on a 40 hour work week.

The amount of hours scheduled per week may vary based on business needs. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.

A bonus and / or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and / or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
