MUST UPLOAD HS DIPLOMA / GED; TX IDENTIFICATION CARD AND CERTIFICATION
REQUIRED :
- High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) required in English.
- Two (2) years of related experience required;
- A valid Texas Identifcation Card.
- Must possess current certification in : 1) Pool Operation (CPO) or must have successfully completed / received CPO certification within 6 months of employment at the Aquatic Center, 2) CPR or CPR for the professional, and 3) First Aid and Safety.
Preferred : Aquatic Facilities Operator (AFO) or Professional Pool and Spa Operator (PPSO) and Association of Pool and Spa Professionals (TECH I) service technician status.
SUMMARY
Manages the maintenance work of the Aquatic Center facility and the operations of the filtration and chemical systems under the direction of the Aquatic Center Coordinator.
Assures performance pertaining to swimming pool operation, safety and maintenance. Duties include insuring the safety of students, staff and general public who are using the facilities of the BISD Aquatic Center.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following :
Assists in upholding and enforcing safety codes and regulations, Aquatic Center rules, administration regulations, and state and local board policy.
Interprets the practices that are specific to health codes and regulations. Tests and adjusts water chemistry to meet code standards.
Maintains operational parameters of filtration and recirculation to meet all Texas Administrative Code and sanitation regulations.
Maintains and sanitizes the locker rooms, restrooms, showers and pool decks to meet all Texas Administrative Code and sanitation regulations.
Practices preventive maintenance for pumps, suction lines, drains, balance tanks, valves, hair and lint strainers, flow and control switches, flow meters, and gauges to meet all Texas Administrative Code and sanitation regulations.
Develops a staff maintenance training program.
Monitors the posting of appropriate notices regarding pool rules and safety procedures for users.
Maintains an inventory of equipment and supplies. Assures that sufficient supplies, materials and equipment are available for safe and efficient operation of pool systems.
Documents all repairs and maintenance, materials used, keeps appropriate records and prepares reports as needed. Develops emergency and accident procedures.
Follows budget guidelines and appropriately uses the District’s accounting and purchasing procedures for supplies, parts and equipment.
Performs emergency and first aid procedures according to safety manual and training.
Assists in the monitoring of pool operation and maintenance procedures; assists with the monitoring of appropriate notices regarding pool rules and safety procedures for users.
Maintains current knowledge of developments of pool equipment, facility renovation and maintenance techniques and develops proposals.
Develops maintenance schedules; assigns and supervises other custodial workers and helpers as assigned. Maintains time and work records.
Reviews scheduled activities for Aquatic Center to assure the appropriate scheduling of pool maintenance according to safety and compliance standards.
Strives to assure the safety, health and comfort of all pool users and employees in the performance of duties at all times.
Assures that all safety codes are followed. Communicates with the public, students, parents, administrators and other pool users in a tactful, effective and professional manner.
Acts properly and swiftly in the event of an incident or emergency. Follows pool procedures for reporting accidents and notifications.
Assures protection of pool facility and equipment.
Uses First Aid knowledge and techniques to give emergency First Aid if needed. Assists individuals with special needs, abilities, learning levels, and physical limitations as needed.
Participates in special events as assigned.
Follows established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties. Maintains confidentiality.
Maintains a high level of ethical behavior as is expected of all District employees.
Maintains professional growth by attending in-service and meetings as requested / required.
Performs other related duties assigned by the Aquatic Center Coordinator.
