POSITION ACCOUNTABLE TO : Laboratory Manager

POSITION TYPE : Full-time, hourly (non-exempt)

JOB SUMMARY : Hixson Metal Finishing is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as an Entry-Level Chemist.

As a crucial member of our laboratory team, you will play a key role in ensuring the quality and efficiency of our metal finishing processes.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

Chemical Inventory Management :

  • Maintain accurate records of chemical inventory levels.
  • Monitor and prepare chemicals as needed to ensure uninterrupted production.
  • Implement and adhere to safety protocols for handling and storing chemicals.

Chemical Analysis :

  • Conduct routine chemical analyses using various techniques, including coating weight, reagents, and titrations.
  • Perform qualitative and quantitative analyses to assess the composition of metal finishing baths.
  • Collaborate with the production team to ensure compliance with specifications and standards.

Technical Data Documentation :

Record and interpret analytical data with precision and attention to detail.

Quality Control :

  • Implement quality control measures to maintain the highest standards in metal finishing processes.
  • Identify and troubleshoot deviations from established parameters.

Instrumentation Operation :

  • Utilize laboratory instruments, such as spectrophotometers, colorimeters, pH and conductivity meters, to perform analyses.
  • Calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability.

REQUIRED SKILLS :

o Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

o Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

o Detail-oriented with a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards.

o Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

PREFERRED SKILLS :

o Understanding of chemical principles and laboratory techniques

o Knowledge of metal finishing processes is a plus.

EDUCATION / WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIRED :

o Degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, or related field or related work experience (preferred)
