Position Details

Position Description

We are recruiting an Associate Professor (without tenure) or full Professor (without tenure) to augment the cardiac research efforts of the Division of Pediatric Cardiology at the University of Washington School of Medicine, and the Seattle Children’s Research Institute.

Positive factors for consideration include, but are not limited to candidates who are either in receipt of external funding or have a high probability for external funding either at the federal level, or via private funding agencies / industrial sponsors.

The Division of Pediatric Cardiology is a diverse team covering every pediatric and congenital cardiac specialty, and has a broad network, extending across 4 states in the Pacific Northwest.

Our scholarly pursuits span outcomes research, device and drug trials, translational research, and basic scientific inquiries.

The successful candidate will be expected to support either one of our current academic directions, or a novel direction applicable to the interests of our team, such as, but not limited to, the foundational causes of neurodevelopmental deficits in newborns with complex congenital heart disease.

Anticipated start : Summer / Fall 2024

The base salary range for this position will be : Associate Professors $12,084 - $18,334 per month ($145,008 - $220,008 annually), Professors $15,834 - $26,667 per month ($190,008 - $320,004 annually) commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.

S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. This range is inclusive of base salary provided by the University. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations.

Associate Professors and Professors hold indefinite appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30).

Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off.

All University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service.

Qualifications

Applicants should possess PhD in a relevant field and / or MD (or foreign equivalent).

In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all 3 steps of the U.

S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
