Education / Experience / Minimum Qualifications :
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Active food and beverage permit
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality
- Must be able to attend required meetings, in-service training, and continuing education
- BLS certification within 6 months of employment
- Minimum math : add, subtract, multiply, divide, measurements, and monetary calculations
Job Summary :
The cook's primary responsibilities include correctly preparing and serving meals while applying the menu and special diets to physician's orders for patient meals.
Prepares for patients, employees, guests, and catering events. Utilizing all foods and assuring that foods served are to correct temp and delivered at times requested.
Cooks will take food orders by phone and in person, deliver meals to patients and catering events. Cooks will adapt to any dept.
changes and solve any problems that may occur during the process of the job. Cooks will work well alone or co-operatively and respectively with staff members.
Cooks are responsible for the sanitation of food handling and the sanitary conditions of the production area while utilizing equipment and facility in the proper manner of food completion.
Cooks will maintain a neat and professional appearance while demonstrating a positive attitude and interest in their work.
Performance Responsibilities :
- Report to work on time.
- Wear scrubs according to the department dress code.
- Cook multiple menu items either at once or spread out according to patient preference.
- Know how to temp and record all foods in temp book.
- Have food go up in a timely manner and at the correct temperature.
- Answer patient phone and take patient orders properly.
- Deliver to patient rooms promptly and properly.
- Perform all duties that are required for food preparation for all meals.
- Stock salad bar, stock all meats, stock all liquids.
- Weekly ordering and receiving of groceries and supplies.
- Restock and clean dining room, patient diet room and employ lounge.
- Wash dishes and put them away in designated areas properly.
- Make coffee and deliver to designated areas at designated times.
- Follow the cleaning schedule and maintain the cleanliness of the department.
- Know how to run the till, make change, and close out the till at the end of the shift.
- Attend all meetings and education classes that are required by the department or hospital.
- Be able to perform all duties assigned to them by the Food Services Supervisor.
