Position Summary
Reporting to the Dean, Career and Technical Education, the Assistant Professor / Coordinator, Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning is responsible for teaching the HVAC courses;
promoting HVAC as a career; assisting with third party implementation testing, recruiting students, and tracking data as detailed in the requirements of Carl D.
Perkins and other grants related directly to the students enrolled in this area of the division.
Reporting Relationship
Essential Responsibilities
- Instructs courses in Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning department, including entry level and more advanced topics.
- As HVAC Program Coordinator, supervises the promotion, organization, coordination, and evaluation of the courses and curricula of the program;
- assists in course and curriculum development; Coordinates the selection of textbooks; Collaborates with faculty to evaluate current program curriculum and recommends changes to improve course offerings;
is responsible for the control, maintenance, and inventory of equipment of the program
Assists the division dean in the recruitment and selection of personnel for part time instructional positions within the program, interviews prospects and makes recommendations to the Dean regarding part time instructors;
supplies part time instructors with course materials, objectives, and textbooks needed for their classes; Recommends to the Dean of Instruction a program schedule of classes and instructor assignments.

Minimum Qualifications
- Associate's Degree in related discipline with a minimum of 5 years relevant work experience.
- Demonstrated proficiency in appropriate technologies for instruction.
- 2-3 years of teaching experience at the collegiate level.
- Current Universal 608 EPA License
- Demonstrated experience and proficiency with installation and repair on all types of residential and light commercial air conditioning and heating systems
- The position requires personal computer skills (Microsoft Office, inclusive of Word, Excel, and Outlook). Excellent spelling and grammar skills with the ability to communicate in a courteous, professional, tactful and concise manner
- Motivation, dedication, professionalism, integrity, and enthusiasm for teaching.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with traditional and non-traditional students from diverse backgrounds.
- Experience in course development and assessment, planning, quality and accreditation processes, and committee service.
