Job Description - Adaptive Care Behavior Analyst (Part Time, Evening Shift) (27032)

Job Summary

Supports Adaptive Care program in order to enhance the quality of care for children with autism and related disabilities and those who have communication and behavioral vulnerabilities in the hospital setting.

Develops adaptive care plans and provides hospital-wide trainings to ensure patient outcomes. Provides trainings to ensure the safety of patients and employees.

Coordinates treatment planning and services with the interdisciplinary team (e.g. family, medical, child life, nursing, security, and social work).

Facilitates problem solving related to the child's treatment and provides resources in order to transition into the child's natural environment.

Job Specific Duties

  • Supports inpatient process and program for patients with communication and behavioral vulnerabilities (i.e., inclusive but not limited to ASD population), inclusive of program development, and ensures sustainability for successful outcomes.
  • Develops tools and updates as needed to assist in prevention and de-escalation of challenging behaviors (develop environmental and communication system), including engaging with subject matter experts to ensure best practice outcomes for patients.
  • Provides in-services and trainings as well as acts as a resource on best practice de-escalation strategies in order to support patient and staff safety.
  • Develops behavior management programs and assists professionals in integrating the behavioral strategies during the child’s inpatient stay and enhances discharge planning.
  • Actively participates in the patient's intake, planning with team members, presenting findings, and contributing to the development of the adaptive care plan.
  • Conducts thorough functional analysis and makes recommendations which includes; consulting with patient’s medical team, providing environmental accommodations & communicating and documenting adaptive care plans.
  • Analyzes adaptive care plan data, monitors the progress, and ensures procedural modifications are made as warranted.

e., inclusive but not limited to ASD population) and tracks the number of adaptive care plans developed for each.

Provides instruction and consultation to staff on strategies to improve quality outcomes for communication and behavioral vulnerability patients (i.

e., inclusive but not limited to ASD population) and serves as a resource to the team.

Responsible for compiling relevant data for review and analysis. Identifies and reports measurements of targeted quality outcomes (i.

e., reduction of code bear) in order to ensure stability, validity, and reliability.

  • Provides education, training, and consultation to families / caregivers in adaptive care plan and assists inpatient team with identifying resources which will aid in success of quality outcomes.
  • Ensures the families and individual needs, interests, abilities, and developmental levels of the child are incorporated in the adaptive care plan.
  • Responsible for advocacy, coordination and linkage of services to provide continued care and to avoid fragmentation and inaccessibility of recommended services at discharge.
  • Adheres to documentation requirements set by department and hospital.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in applied Behavior Analysis, Psychology or related field.
  • BCBA - Board Cert Behavior Analyst - maintain active and in good standing throughout employment.
  • Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) or Safety Care required within 90 days of hire date - maintain active and in good standing throughout employment.
  • American Heart Association BLS - maintain active and in good standing throughout employment.
  • Level II Fingerprinting background and Good Moral Character Affidavit must be initiated within 15 days of hire date and finalized within 90 days of hire date.
  • 1-3 years of experience working with children with significant behavioral, communication, and learning challenges.
  • 1-3 years of experience developing and implementing functional analysis and behavior planning for individuals with autism and related disabilities and those with communication and behavioral vulnerabilities.
  • 1-3 years of experience working in an interdisciplinary setting.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • English and Spanish Proficiency.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills in order to interact with patients, caregiver(s), physicians, co-workers and healthcare professionals in all work-related situations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and appropriately.
  • Ability to evaluate patient condition, assess patient progress, and determine appropriate follow-up.
  • Possess and demonstrate effective written communication skills for record keeping and report writing.
  • Analytical ability necessary to evaluate, interpret, and analyze data.
