We are seeking a skilled Weld Engineer to develop and maintain expertise in welding technologies and processes. Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Weld Engineer to develop and maintain expertise in welding technologies and processes. The role involves evaluating, improving, recommending, and implementing welding processes to enhance product quality, reliability, and cost-effectiveness. You will also provide guidance to less experienced personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Develop welder requirements and designs for new business quotes.
  • Specify, source, and implement welding process equipment and develop preventive maintenance programs for plant welding equipment.
  • Establish data for proper process parameters and spare parts requirements for welding equipment.
  • Develop and maintain a Plant Welding Standards Manual for operational guidelines and process improvements.
  • Stay current with new technologies to incorporate improvements in welding processes.
  • Maintain inventories of plant welding equipment and direct areas for improvements.
  • Collaborate with product design personnel to ensure manufacturability of designs.
  • Develop justifications for purchasing new production equipment within budgetary requirements.
  • Apply technical knowledge to recommend processes and equipment for metal manufacturing.
  • Utilize cut and etch equipment to optimize welding process parameters.
  • Update welding equipment specifications.
  • Develop and conduct in-house welding training programs to ensure proper welding techniques.
  • Utilize methods of continuous improvement and stop production if defective or unsafe conditions arise.
  • Lead root cause analysis for test failures and ensure safety concerns are addressed by management.
  • Assist in evaluating reports, decisions, and results of the department in relation to established goals.
  • Recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures for continual departmental improvement.
  • Prepare cost estimates and plan and execute engineering changes.
  • Prioritize and complete multiple tasks with minimal supervision, including overtime as needed.
  • Identify and record problems related to product, process, and quality systems.
  • Initiate, recommend, and verify solutions to problems through designated channels.
  • Responsible for processing and documenting problem-solving methodologies such as 8D, 5Y, and Fishbone Diagrams.

Essential Skills

  • 3+ years of weld engineering experience
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, preferably welding engineering
  • Strong MIG Welding knowledge
  • Robotic welding experience
  • Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Nachi Robotic experience
  • Experience with 8D, 5Y, and Fishbone Diagrams
  • Work Environment

    The position is set in a dynamic manufacturing environment. The role offers exciting opportunities to work with top OEMs on new business lines, with good benefits and flexible time-off policies.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $95000.00 - $115000.00 / hr.
