Assistant Terminal Manager - Rail Operations

Location : CSX / TDSI Auto Facility – Nashville, TN

PRS Auto is seeking a safety-conscious individual to oversee and facilitate daily operations at the CSX / TDSI Nashville, TN auto facility. This facility is responsible for unloading new automobiles from railcars in a recession-resistant industry.

  • Applicants must live within 45 minutes of Nashville, TN .
  • You will be employed by PRS Auto and will not be considered an employee of the Railroad .

  • Position Overview :

    The Assistant Terminal Manager (ATM) supports the Terminal Manager in overseeing daily automotive operations in accordance with AAR and automotive manufacturing guidelines. This role includes supervising Auto Loaders, managing inventory and office duties, and ensuring high operational performance. The ATM must be adaptable, safety-focused, and capable of making timely decisions in a dynamic environment.

    Work Schedule :

    This is a full-time, salaried position in a 24 / 7 / 365 operation. Non-standard hours including nights, weekends, and holidays may be required. Occasional extended hours and on-call availability are expected.

    Key Responsibilities :

  • Manage operations in compliance with AAR and automotive manufacturing standards.
  • Supervise terminal staff, delegate tasks, and resolve operational issues.
  • Lead and support the team in resolving complex challenges.
  • Monitor and maintain employee performance.
  • Communicate effectively with customers, including railroads and auto manufacturers.
  • Track and analyze key performance metrics.
  • Participate in unloading operations as needed.
  • Enforce company policies and promote a culture of safety.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Terminal Manager.
  • Qualifications :

  • Experience in automobile loading / unloading preferred but not required.
  • Strong problem-solving and procedural development skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and time management abilities.
  • Commitment to providing exceptional customer service.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt to changing customer needs and seasonal workload variations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to pass federal background checks and obtain e-RAILSAFE certification.
  • Must pass a drug screening.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs overhead.
  • Physically and mentally capable of climbing ladders up to 20 feet.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Able to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Physical Requirements :

    This role requires regular climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, talking, and hearing. Frequent standing, walking, sitting, and use of hands is necessary. Must be able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 40 lbs overhead. Vision requirements include the ability to adjust focus for day and night operations.

    Work Environment :

    Candidates must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions. Working around rail equipment and automobiles requires strict adherence to safety protocols.
