Position Summary
Career Interest : Responsible for administering and monitoring anesthesia to patients during surgical and / or obstetrical procedures.
Responsibilities :
- Assesses patients before anesthesia including analyzing medical history and planning anesthesia delivery.
- Administers various types of anesthesia including inhalational, intravenous, regional anesthetics based on anesthetic plan.
Performs any necessary invasive procedures including insertion of catheters.
- Observes and records all patient functions being continuously monitored and evaluates need for ancillary drugs to maintain normal functioning.
- Consults with staff anesthesiologist as necessary regarding patient condition.
- Documents for patient record all relevant assessment, care and monitoring data.
- Ensures availability of required supplies and equipment before anesthetic procedure.
- Educates patients, families and staff on anesthesia aspects related to conditions and diseases. Reassures patient before procedure.
Accompanies to recovery area to ensure condition satisfactory.
- Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.

The Department of Anesthesiology at The University of Kansas Health System is seeking Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists.

Successful completion of nursing anesthesia program, certification, and eligibility for licensure in the State of Kansas are required.

CRNAs are integrated members of the anesthesia care team comprised of more than 100 CRNAs, 65 anesthesiologists, residents and anesthesia technicians.
Broad caseload in multiple surgical specialties - transplant, trauma, ortho, ENT, neurosurgery, OB and hearts. We welcome sub-specialty interests.
CRNAs perform a full range of procedures.
12-20 shifts per month.
Flexible scheduling available for full and part time positions, with set day off.
8, 10, 12 hour shifts.
Tailor your work to your interests. Can do OB and hearts, if you choose, but not required.
Ability to move between OR settings, including ASCs.
Self-scheduled call rotated evenlywith 14-16 inhouse calls / year (additional compensation).
Pre and Post call day off.
