We are seeking multiple staff persons with experience and capabilities in traffic engineering, transportation planning, and other areas of engineering and drafting.

We will consider candidates from a range of experience levels, from technicians to senior engineers. These positions will support the development of traffic control plans for DC Water projects.

Traffic control plans will be prepared according to the District Department of Transportations (DDOTs) General Traffic Control Plan (TCP) Submittal Guidelines, 19th Edition.

The staff persons will also be tasked with preparing site plans which will be used to obtain construction permits.

Primary Responsibilities :

  • Prepare Traffic Control Plans (TCP) according to the minimum requirements for submittal of TCPs to DDOT for DC Waters Lead Replacement Program.
  • Prepare site plans for DDOT Construction Permit. (Note : Software of choice is Rapid Plan).
  • 2+ years of experience in drafting related functions, preferably in civil and / or traffic engineering
  • Ability to read and interpret site, roadway and plans
  • Ability to apply mathematical formulas and engineering principles to determine field adjustments
  • Ability to maintain detailed records and communicate effectively with agency and contractor personnel.

Position Requirements :

  • Competent in Arc GIS and Arc Maps.
  • Must demonstrate a good attitude and ability to work as a member of a Team.
  • Position requires self-motivation and the ability to work effectively under a minimum of supervision.
  • Work with plans, specs or instructions from supervisors
  • Ability to communicate effectively (e.g. follow directives) in English language.
  • Knowledge and experience with other general construction skills such as carpenter, plumber, mason, or other building construction trades is desired and considered a plus.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations :

  • Flagger Certification
  • Traffic Control and / or Intermediate Work Zone Safety
  • 10 Hour OSHA Safety Training (OSHA)
