Backup Driver & Warehouse Associate Summary

Full-time. Monday-Friday, 1st shift Back-up for Company Drivers Home Daily *Works as a Warehouse Associate when not scheduled to drive.

The Backup Driver & Warehouse Associate - is an essential part of our warehouse operation. This positionplays a key role in ensuring other team members can safely and efficiently complete their work, as well as sustaining high morale and job satisfaction by keeping the warehouse clean and organized.

This position is responsible for performing routine general building and equipment maintenance, and cleaning tasks in the warehouse areas of operation.

The Backup Driver / Warehouse Maintenance & Cleaning Associate also acts as a backup driver delivering products to customers on an as-needed basis.

Backup Driver & Warehouse Associate Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of warehouse and forklift operation
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• High degree of attention to detail
• Minimum of 2 years’ Experience using hand tools
• Ability to perform light to heavy physical tasks; able to lift 50 lbs. safely
• Ability to proficiently operate a variety of powered industrial trucks
• Valid Class A CDL operator’s license
• Minimum 3 years’ (or 100,000 miles) of previous Class A CDL driving experience
• Current Federal Medical Card
• Ability to pass both pre-employment and random drug tests as required by the DOT
• Clean motor vehicle record
• Clean federal pre-employment screening program (PSP) report

Warehouse Associate Duties

• Utilizes a forklift to move product, pallets, and equipment as needed
• Completes walk through of facility to review condition of warehouse and provide management ongoing feedback
• Responds quickly to cleaning situations that increase associate risk for slips, trips, or falls
• Builds rapport with team members
• Promotes warehouse cleanliness and organizational goals
• Ensures facility has adequate tools and resources available for associates to perform cleaning and organizational tasks
• Addresses tipped pallets in warehouse racking
• Ensures aisles are kept clean of debris and obstacles that hinder equipment traffic
• Addresses spilled product situations by blocking off access to the area until cleaned
• Aids in collecting and / or repairing damaged product
• Ensures excess shrink wrap is cut from pallets and product is stored neatly
• Routinely sweeps, mops, dusts, sanitizes, and empties trash cans in various work areas
• Manages area dedicated to storing damaged pallets
• Ensures warehouse equipment is kept in good condition and is visually presentable
• Performs or schedules grounds maintenance tasks such as landscaping, cleaning debris from exterior dock areas, washing and drying windows, and snow blowing and salting
• Other duties as assigned

Backup Driver Duties

• Serves as back-up driver; drives and operates heavy-duty truck / tractor-trailer to and from destination as needed.
• Performs pre and post trip inspections on trucks and completes daily vehicle inspection reports (DVIRs) as required.
• Drops and spots trailers in docks and company lot
• Assists customers in product unload, verifying quantities, and products delivered versus ship tickets and notes any discrepancies
• Collects payment for goods delivered if required and in accordance with payment instructions on ship ticket
• Maintains driver logs according to federal, state, and local regulations
• Operates within applicable safety guidelines as defined by government regulations, the company’s safety manuals and / or stated safety policies
• Maintains Class A CDL and clean driving record per company and DOT rules and regulations
• Adheres to all company policies, procedures, and safety rules
• Other duties as assigned
