Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following :

Program and Event Coordination :

Administer the Initiative’s seminar lecture series with a couple of events per semester and organize an annual conference.

Build out the existing series to increase quantity and quality of the events, including improving promotional efforts, networking and building relationships with key individuals in the field, and expanding event programming.

Responsibilities also include : coordinating speakers; organizing logistics, space, catering, IT / AV; publicizing events;

providing on-site event management

Manage the Initiative's student interest group. Organize efforts in identifying and working with speakers and moderating discussion.

Develop a plan to increase promotion and recruitment efforts

  • Spearhead the development and management of a new, large-scale one-week intensive spirituality and health course in collaboration with the Human Flourishing Program and / or the School of Public Health.
  • The course will be offered in-person and virtually, and aim to have 100+ participantsResponsibilities include : developing and managing the project plan and timeline;

developing and implementing a marketing plan; developing and implementing a course infrastructure (e.g., registration and payment, course content distribution, etc.

assisting the faculty with the development of course curriculum and programming; organizing all administrative, operations, catering, and IT / AV logistics;

serving as the primary contact for perspective and registered participants, and managing their course experience

Research Coordination :

  • Manage the obtaining of access to research database resources
  • Conduct quality control checks on research databases and implement basic analyses
  • Ensure protocol and regulatory compliance for research activities, including Institutional Review Boards (IRBs).
  • Contribute to research paper writing, manuscripts, and grant submissions
  • May develop and conduct independent research pursuits related to spirituality and health, leadership and spirituality, theological reflection on health, bioethics or other related topics as time allows

Communications / Relationship Management :

  • Manage the Initiative's strategic planning and development efforts by identifying funding interests and opportunities, drafting and submitting proposals, and developing relationships with current and prospective donors
  • Represent the Initiative on behalf of faculty members as needed and provide recommendations to the faculty leadership on strategic directions as appropriate
  • Manage outreach and engagement with faculty throughout Harvard University and external collaborators with interest in this area, including religion and medicine, theology and pastoral care, patient care, bioethics, medical ethics, spirituality and health, well-being and human flourishing, to identify and pursue potential partnership and collaboration opportunities
  • Develop and maintain a database of current and prospective donors, collaborators, and partners
  • Evaluate the Initiative's current communication efforts. Develop and implement a strategic communications plan to increase internal and external visibility of the Initiative and its research programs
  • Design and implement a new quarterly e-mail newsletter, including creating scientific content highlighting the Initiative's work
  • Expand the Initiative’s online presence via website and social media, including content
  • Lead the development and production of audiovisual and other promotional materials with the aim of expanding and enhancing the Initiative’s publicity and presence
  • Perform other duties as assigned

PLEASE NOTE : This position is a part-time, benefits-eligible position with a 21 hour work week. It has a term appointment of 4 / 30 / 2025 with the possibility of extension.

This role may occasionally be required to work evenings for on-site event support.
