Job Description

Summary

Under the direct supervision of the manager of off-site locations and the general supervision of the clinic manager and director, this position provides highly skilled clinical assistance and support to the hygienist, faculty, resident and student providers in all aspects of patient care within the Nexton and WAMP clinics.

This position will serve as back-up, support and fill-in for the dental assistants at these locations. In addition, this position provides front office support as needed for the day-to-day operations of the dental clinic.

Job Description

35% Perform chairside assisting with four handed dentistry techniques for hygienist, student, resident and faculty providers as they treat patients in the Nexton clinic.

These procedures may range from general dentistry to advanced specialty care. Document and chart items in EHR as directed by clinic manager and dental providers.

Per HIPPA, maintain patient confidentiality by protecting patient information. Essential

30% Responsible for setting up operatory for dental and surgical procedures. Must maintain high level of knowledge of all clinical procedures and instrumentation to ensure rooms are set up accurately.

Break down and clean operatory after procedures are complete. Maintain and sterilize all dental instruments and equipment.

Follow all infection control policies and protocols set forth by MUSC, CDM and the clinic manager. Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with OSHA’s procedures, rules and regulations. Essential

15% Assist with all front office duties as directed by the clinic manager to facilitate patient care including but not limited to answering phones, creating charts in the EHR, schedule patients, creating treatment plans, confirming appointments insurance management. Essential

10% Capture radiographic images such as CBCT, panoramic, bitewings, PA's or intra-oral camera images per dentist's request.

Properly places images in the EHR. Educate patients regarding the diagnostic necessity of radiographic images. Essential

5% Maintains dental supplies and inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level, anticipating needed supplies, placing and expediting orders for supplies and verifying receipt of supplies.

Ensures instruments and supplies are maintained and stocked in dental operatories and other areas of the clinic. Essential

5% Contribute to the team effort by accomplishing related duties as need as well as any other duties as directed by the clinic manager. Essential

Job Description

Minimum Requirements : A high school diploma and two years experience or training within the specific work area. Some positions require certification in CPR by the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association.

4426 Dental Hygienist II) An associate degree in dental hygiene and licensure by the South Carolina State Board of Dentistry.

Certification in Radiation Safety required for positions responsible for dental x-rays. (Special Hire Rate - $37,468) Physical Requirements : (Note : The following descriptions are applicable to this section : Continuous - 6-8 hours per shift;
