Position Details

Summary Operating Title Assistant Professor of Practice - Criminology & Criminal Justice Long Classification Title Campus Location Plymouth Department PSU J&S Criminal Justice Summary of Position The Department of Criminal Justice and Criminology at Plymouth State University invites applications for one (1) full time, 9-month, non tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Practice to commence in August 2024.

The non tenure-track candidate will be responsible for teaching 12 credit hours of undergraduate courses in Criminology / Criminal Justice in the fall semester and 16 credit hours in the spring semester.

Additionally, the candidate will advise undergraduate students, and contributing to discipline and university service. A PhD in Criminology, Criminal Justice or a related discipline is preferred, but a JD will be considered.

ABD candidates expecting to complete their degree prior to appointment will be considered. This position is for a 1-year appointment.

  • PhD in Criminology, Criminal Justice, or a related discipline.
  • ABD will be considered
  • Demonstrated excellence in college-level teaching with evidence from colleagues and students.
  • Skills in academic advising and mentoring students.
  • Innovative, student-driven, and possessing strong communication skills.

Additional Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to teach multiple core courses in the criminology and criminal justice programs.
  • Area of specialization is open, but preference will given to candidates with expertise in one of the following areas : Conservation Law, White Collar Crime, or Digital Forensics.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with colleagues and participate in collaborative programs and projects across disciplines.
  • Experience integrating technology into the classroom to enhance student learning.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
