San Bernardino Community College District accepts applications for Federal Work Study, hourly positions for our two college campuses (San Bernardino Valley College and Crafton Hills College) on a continuous basis.
However, this does not imply the department is actively recruiting for this position. If there is an interest and / or need within the specific department, applicants who meet the requirements will be contacted by the respective department manager.
Applications submitted will remain active for up to one (1) year.
Student worker will assist employees in the Student Life Department.
Student worker will assist in the Office of Student Life to help implement the Student Civic and Voter Empowerment Act (AB 963) requirements to inform and mobilize student voters and promote civic engagement learning opportunities.
Student worker will be involved in the SBVC Votes / Civic Engagement Task Force; will provide feedback on SBVC’s Civic & Voter Empowerment Action Plan;
and help organize and coordinate events throughout the academic year
Must have the ability to work with a diverse student population.
Due to the nature of the campus activities, some early morning and evening availability may be required.
ALL STUDENT EMPLOYEES MAY BE REQUIRED TO ATTEND MONTHLY MANDATORY TRAININGS.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to :
- Attend SBVC Votes Task Force meetings
- Assist with organizing and coordinating events and activities including voter registration booths, workshops, film screenings, and more
- Must remain nonpartisan and unbiased in providing voter information and resources to all students
- Assist with reviewing and revising the SBVC Civic & Voter Empowerment Action Plan
- Attend webinars / trainings related to civic engagement and voter empowerment, such as voter registration training
- May conduct classroom presentations on voter registration and resources as needed
- Create marketing / informational materials and content for social media
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements :
- Student must possess a Federal Work-Study award letter for the 2024 / 2025 academic year
- Student must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 units fall and spring semester; 3 units summer
- Student must have a minimum of 2.0 GPA
- Student must have a current TB
- Ability to follow directions in order to carry out the duties as assigned.
- Must maintain strict confidentiality regarding all confidential information disclosed.
- Students must maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP)
Student cannot fall below half-time (6+ units) during their employment under the FWS program.
