Essential Function :

The Nurse Practitioner is responsible forproviding medical care and treatment to patients. Performs physical examinations and preventative health measures within the prescribed guidelines and instructions of the physician.

Plans a treatmentstrategytomeetidentifiedneeds, evaluatesresponsestonursingandmedicalinterventions.

Patient Care :

Providesqualitycaretopatients. Promptlyrespondstopatientcallsandmessagesandensuressamedaycompletionofcallsandmessages.

Maintainsaccuratepatientandbusinessrecordsincludingthecompletionofencounters.

Observespatientsforsignsandsymptomsofabuse / neglectandreportimmediatelyinaccordancewithpolicy.

Recognizesemergenciesandrespondsappropriatelyinadherencetoorganizationalpolicyandprocedure.

Coordinatesplansofcare, periodicallyreviewtheseplansandimplementmethodstokeepthequalityofcareunderconstantsurveillance.

Compliance :

Staysabreastofallotherresponsibilitiesrequiredassetforthinanyfederalandstatelaws, statutes, orregulationsasenactedorasmaybeenactedoramended.

Maintainstheconfidentialityofallpatientinformationasestablishedbythefacility’s HIPAA policiesandprocedures.

Maintainstherequiredcontinuingeducationhourstoassurecontinuedcompetence.

Professionalismand Support :

Demonstratesprofessionalownershipandcommitmenttotheprinciplesandcorevaluesofguestrelations.

Demonstrateleadershipoftheclinicalteam. Communicateswithclinicleadership, escalateissuesandpresentsolutions.

SAFETY AND INFECTION CONTROL STANDARDS :

Assistswithcompliancetosafety, environmental, infectioncontrol, qualityimprovementandotherregulatorystandards.

Implementsstandardandtransmission-basedprecautions, asoutlinedinpolicies. Performshandhygiene, asoutlinedinrelevantpolicy.

Ensurespatientsafetyduringclinicvisits, inaccordancewithappropriatepolicy.

Maintains a cleanclinicworkingenvironment.

Reportsanysafetyhazardsorviolationsinpatientorclinicenvironmenttoclinicmanagerordesignee.

Collaboration :

Provideinputinhiring, disciplinaryactionandterminationdecisionsofclinicalpersonnel.

Attendsalldailyhuddles, staffmeetingsandprovidermeetings.

Participatesinon-goingperformanceimprovementactivitiesandinitiatives.

Job Qualifications :

The nurse practitioner is an advanced practice registered nurse educated in a specific area of care and certified by a nationally accrediting agency.

In accordance with the Nurse Practice Act and the Louisiana state Board of Nursing, the nurse practitioner, in collaboration with the physician, provides comprehensive health assessments, determines diagnosis, and manages the health care needs of the patient.

Health promotion, illness and disease prevention, and management of acute and chronic illnesses are emphasized.

The candidate must have graduated from an accredited nurse practitioner program.

Master's of Science in Nursing.

Licensure from Louisiana State Board of Nursing, Professional Registered Nurse and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse.

Certification in a specialized area by a nationally recognized accrediting agency,i.e., American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC);

American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP).

Current American Heart BLS required.

Minimum of one year's experience as a nurse practitioner preferred.

Must have good working knowledge of ICD-9-and CPT coding.

Possess excellent communication and people skills.

Must be able to use a copier, fax machine and computer.
