Salary : $85,000 - $90,000 plus quarterly bonus

Reports To : Maintenance Manager / Ammonia Refrigeration

Job Summary

The Assistant Refrigeration Manager is responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of the refrigeration department, including the maintenance, repair, and preventive maintenance of refrigeration systems.

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager for Ammonia / Refrigeration, this role involves supervising and training refrigeration technicians, ensuring safety protocols are followed, and maintaining the optimal functionality of all assigned systems.

Key Responsibilities

Department Management :

• Assist in managing the daily operations of the refrigeration department.
• Oversee the maintenance and repair of refrigeration systems, ensuring all systems function efficiently and reliably.

Team Supervision & Development :

• Supervise, train, and manage refrigeration technicians, ensuring high performance and adherence to safety protocols.
• Collaborate with the Refrigeration Manager to develop and implement preventive maintenance programs.
• Manage and supervise refrigeration associates, including hiring, training, and ongoing development.

Safety & Compliance :

• Provide a safe working environment by identifying and eliminating unsafe acts or conditions.
• Ensure adherence to all safety protocols and company policies.

Quality & Reporting :

• Implement and uphold the Quality Improvement Process and team management concepts.
• Provide timely, accurate, and consistent reports, including those related to safety, production, and cost management.

Maintenance & Technical Tasks :

• Participate in the maintenance, repair, and preventive maintenance of refrigeration systems.
• Perform tasks such as cleaning, installing, repairing, and replacing insulation, filters, and other system components.
• Utilize hand and shop tools for the maintenance and repair of refrigerated systems.

Shifts Available

• 6 : 00 AM - 3 : 30 PM
• 2 : 00 PM - 11 : 30 PM
• 10 : 00 PM - 7 : 00 AM

Qualifications

Education & Experience :

• Trade school diploma or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience assisting with refrigeration equipment.
• Proven experience in refrigeration system maintenance and repair, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role.

Technical Skills :

• Strong technical knowledge of various refrigeration systems, including industrial and commercial applications.
• Ability to use hand and shop tools required for the maintenance and repair of refrigeration systems.
• Ability to read and understand sketches and manufacturer's instructions.

Leadership & Communication :

• Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and manage a team effectively.
