Position Overview :

As a Heat Pump Product Engineer at Cleaver-Brooks you will play a key role in the development, design, and enhancement of our heat pump products.

This position is based in our Milwaukee, WI office, where you will collaborate with cross-functional teams, bringing technical expertise to ensure the successful creation and improvement of our heat pump solutions.

Responsibilities :

  • Product Development : Lead the development of new heat pump products from concept to market release, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Design and Optimization : Utilize engineering principles to optimize the performance, efficiency, and reliability of heat pump systems.
  • Collaboration : Work closely with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, and software developers, to integrate heat pump solutions into broader product offerings.
  • Testing and Validation : Develop and execute testing protocols to validate the performance and reliability of heat pump products.

Analyze and interpret test data to drive continuous improvement.

  • Third Party Testing : Work with applicable third-party listing agencies and performance testing agencies to obtain equipment certifications.
  • Documentation : Create detailed design documentation, specifications, and reports to communicate engineering concepts and product requirements effectively.
  • Cost Analysis : Conduct cost analyses to optimize the balance between product performance and cost-effectiveness.
  • Prototyping : Oversee the creation of prototypes for testing and validation purposes, iterating designs based on test results.
  • Stay Informed : Keep abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and advancements in heat pump technology. Apply this knowledge to enhance product offerings and maintain a competitive edge.

Qualifications :

  • BS degree in engineering with 7+ years of product engineering experience OR MS degree in engineering with 5+ years of product engineering experience.
  • Design experience with mechanical and electrical integrated systems.
  • Design experience with vapor compression systems (heat pumps, air conditioners, refrigerators, etc.)
  • Fundamental understanding of thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics.
  • Proficiency in CAD software for product design and modeling.
  • Experience with CAE tools such as LabVIEW, EES, CFD, and FEA software is a plus.
  • Knowledge of heat pump industry standards and regulations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex engineering challenges.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Familiarity with sustainable and energy-efficient technologies.
  • Self-motivated with a passion for environmental sustainability and innovation.

Physical Skill and Effort : Work requires computer proficiency, moderate typing speed and a high data input accuracy level.

Work involves light and simple types of physical exertion, up to 50 pounds lifting.

Working Conditions and Hazards : Normal plant, shop, field, or office conditions. Negligible, little or no exposure to hazardous working conditions.
