As a CT Radiographer you will maintain a smooth operational and productive workflow while providing a full range of comprehensive diagnostic imaging and treatment services, working closely with other medical and surgical staff, in a state-of-the-art, all digital PACS environment.
I. General Summary
Perform a variety of routine and specialized technical procedures with limited supervision. Schedules examinations in accordance with CT protocols and procedures.
Maintains a smooth operational and productive workflow.
II. Principal Responsibilities and Tasks
The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this classification.

1. Clinical Practice / Patient Care - Operates the Tomography Imaging equipment in accordance with standard operating procedures according to the Diagnostic Imaging Department’s P&P manual.
A. Demonstrates clinical competence in Musculoskeletal, Neuro and Body.
B. Demonstrates basic knowledge in computers and information processing, computer applications, image capture, display and storage.
Demonstrates the ability to fix studies in the private area in collaboration with IDXRAD.
C. Responds to patient care emergencies.
D. Demonstrates continuing education in CT to maintain certification and licensure.
E. Documents QA activities appropriately.
F. Selects protocols as appropriate.
G. Provides patient safety and protection in accordance with federal and state regulatory agencies, accreditation agencies and health care organizations.
2. Leadership
A. Participates in the scheduling of work with support personnel on their assigned shift.
B. Reviews requests for radiology procedures with the assistance of the radiologist, Radiographer 2 / 3 or the supervisor when necessary.
C. Participates in departmental initiatives and efforts to improve workflows and patient satisfaction.
3. Unit Management
A. Notifies Chief Tech / Team Leader of requests for protocol changes.
B. Communicates with clinicians regarding patient preparation for procedures.
C. Complies with established departmental and UMMS standards and practices / procedures.
D. Assists in ensuring unit based products available (i.e. O2 tubing, etc).
Qualifications
Education and Experience
1. Graduation from an AMA approved school of Radiologic Technology; registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists;
licensed by the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene is required.2. CPR certification is required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
1. Knowledge of cross sectional anatomy preferred.
2. Knowledge and understanding of imaging principles and practices.
3. Ability to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the patient population(s) served.
Ability to demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s requirements relative to his or her population-specific and age specific needs.
