GENERAL OVERVIEW :
Responsible for rendering professional advanced emergency medical and critical care to ill or injured patients in collaboration with an RN partner and medical control in the transport environment.
Provides patient focused care within the protocols, policies, and procedures of Critical Care Transport . Provides professional emergency care in accordance Pennsylvania protocols.
Active involvement with Quality Improvement initiatives. EVOC-maintains and operates emergency vehicle within PADOT regulation and Critical Care Transport policy.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Collaborates within a multidisciplinary team to establish an appropriate plan of care to safely transport critically ill or injured patients. (20%)
- Provides critical care life support and medical care for the population served according to established standards and protocols and PA DOH regulations. (30%)
- Serves as an ambassador of AHN Critical Care Transport by demonstrating positive professional appearance, language, and conduct within the AHN core behaviors. (15%)
- Provides for safe transport of patients, drives ambulance within PA DOH standards, complies with EVOC operational standards.
Monitors and promotes safety of self and others while working in and around transport vehicle. (10%)
- Collaborates with Critical Care Nurse to provide advanced interventions for complex medical, surgical and trauma patients during transport . (5%)
- Participates in Critical Care Transport quality assurance activities including case reviews, monthly Team and Safety meetings.
Actively participates in PCC and LEAN team activities. Completes all annual education requirements and training. (5%)
- Completes documentation according to department and regulatory requirements. (5%)
- Ensures medication and supply inventory in ambulance by completing daily checks and stocking ambulance as needed. Maintains storage of medications within established safety and security controls. (5%)
- Other duties as assigned. (5%)
QUALIFICATIONS : Minimum
Minimum
- High School Diploma / GED
- 3 years as an EMT / Paramedic
- 2 years as a licensed driver with a valid Driver’s License
- Paramedic
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- Certified Critical Care Paramedic (CCP-C) OR Flight Paramedic Certification (FPC) required within 18 months of hire
- Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) NAEMT required within 6 months of hire
- Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) required within 6 months of hire.
- CPR American Heart Association
- Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
- Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate
- Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
Preferred
Prior experience with IABP therapy, management of complex ventilator patients, and Cardiac assist devices
