Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Neuro Operating Room position in a Level 1 trauma setting with a requirement of an active AZ or compact RN license and at least two years of OR experience.
Responsibilities
Work in the Neuro Operating Room (OR) within an acute care hospitalLevel 1 trauma center with 11 surgical suitesNeurosurgery cases including craniotomies, tumors, carotids, spine fusions, lumbar procedures, scoliosis, shunts, brain biopsies, deep brain stimulation, and tumor ablationHandles approximately 400-450 cases per month, averaging 20-25 cases per day4 days per week, 10-hour day shifts from 06 : 30am to 5 : 00pm, with no weekends or call required for this positionEMR systems used : Cerner and SuginetOrientation includes 1 week in the OR and completion of SIMs Lab for key clinical skillsResponsibilities include preparation, circulation, and assistance during neurosurgical procedures while maintaining strict sterile techniqueMust demonstrate proficiency in maintaining sterile fields and commonly performed nursing skills in the OR settingScrub attire is provided by the facilityTeam includes both RNs (70%) and CSTs (30%) with support from 24 / 7 respiratory therapy and pharmacy servicesFloat to general surgery may be required if experiencedHoliday coverage may be included in rotation as neededCandidates must provide two professional references, including one supervisor from the past twelve months and one peer or supervisor from the past three yearsRequirements
Active AZ or compact RN license required at the time of considerationMinimum of 2 years of recent OR nursing experience, preferably in neurosurgeryCurrent BLS certification required; ACLS and CNOR preferredCompetency in circulating and scrubbing is a plusMust successfully complete SIMs Lab (pass / fail) for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes on orientationMust pass the Relias Dysrhythmia exam prior to offerMust reside at least 50 miles from the facility as determined by driver's licenseCandidates may not have been employed by any CommonSpirit facility (including CHI or Dignity) within the past 12 monthsBenefits
