Start time between 6 : 30am - 8 : 30am
OT - Will soon start working five 10 hr shifts with some Saturdays
Wind tunnel work is off site, and long days and they do these a lot over the weekend.
We are looking for a hard-working automotive engineering test technician to join our HVAC / Thermal testing team in Farmington Hills, Michigan.
The ideal candidate will have a flexible skillset in order to support a variety of testing on new product development. The key roles of the HVAC / Thermal technician are to instrument / de-instrument test vehicles, conduct testing in the wind tunnel, and perform component level testing.
Job Responsibilities :
This job is very dynamic and will require seamless collaboration with other staff to ensure that each test runs as intended.
The technician will primarily work in our HVAC / Thermal test lab but may also work in other functional test areas if required.
This position may require travel, overtime work on some weekends, and / or off-shift work as needed.
HVAC / Thermal Technician responsibilities include, but are not limited to :
Instrumenting vehicles and conducting component / system level testing.
Reading and following complex build sheets and test plans.
Assisting the engineering team with troubleshooting, root cause analysis and developing effective countermeasures.
Communicating accurately and professionally with technicians, engineers, and management teams.
Tracking personal progress to ensure department and corporate objectives are met.
Creating detailed technical documents to support test setup and operation as well as creating accurate detailed test reports for submitting to test engineering.
Minimum Qualifications :
Associates degree in an automotive related discipline plus 1 years of test technician experience or equivalent required.
Will consider 5 years of related test technician experience in lieu of an associate's degree.
Preferred 3-5 years directly related experience in HVAC / Thermal testing.
Experience with instrumentation and data collection (Campbell Scientific Data Logger, Thermocouples, Etc.)
Very strong automotive mechanical / technical skills, and proficiency using Microsoft Office tools.
Excellent problem solving, critical thinking, and communication skills.
Positive attitude, eagerness to learn new tasks and must have the ability to maintain a clean and safe work area.
