Responsibilities Work in a hospital Med / Surg Telemetry unit Typical patient diagnoses include spinal stenosis, peripheral vascular disease, diabetic ulcers, lung carcinoma, and pleural effusions Day and evening nurse-to-patient ratios are 5 : 1, nights are 6-7 : 1, with potential stretch ratios up to 6-7 : 1 for day / evening and 9-10 : 1 for nights PCTs support with vital signs, blood glucose checks, EKGs, and daily living activities In-house phlebotomy handles lab draws; nursing staff manage PICC and central lines Expected to work every other weekend Night shift scheduled as 3x12 hour shifts (19 : 00–07 : 00) Floating to other Med / Surg units within scope is required Epic is used for charting and experience is required Responsibilities include managing patients with a variety of complex medical conditions and providing telemetry monitoring Must be comfortable implementing isolation precautions and managing oxygen delivery devices Collaborate with PCTs, phlebotomy, and rapid response teams Up to one week of requested time off allowed per contract Must wear any combination of navy and white scrubs Pre-start online modules required, with some compensated time Three approved call-off shifts allowed per 13-week contract First-time travelers are welcome if Epic experience is met Requirements Active NY RN license in hand at time of application Minimum of 1 year of RN experience in Med / Surg Telemetry Current BLS certification required Epic EMR experience required; first-time US travelers must have previous Epic experience Proficiency in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, use of rapid response teams, peripheral line care, and non-invasive airway management Previous employees eligible after a 1-year break in service Candidates must live at least 75 miles from the facility Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-619963.
