Position Description :

We are looking for an Electrical Substation Engineer to join our ICE Team to improve infrastructure in our Michigan offices. The candidate must have a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, and two to five years of experience with high voltage substation design. Substation design encompasses distribution, sub-transmission, and transmission level voltage classes. Experience with Microsoft Office and Bluebeam Revu PDF Editor is preferred. Some travel will be required. The candidate must also be self-motivated, work well with others, and have excellent writing, organizational, and communication skills. A flexible work schedule (hybrid or remote) is available.

Responsibilities include :

  • Prepare one-lines, installation plans, section views, and details for power substation equipment.
  • Prepare schematics, panel elevations, wiring diagrams, and interconnection diagrams for protective relaying & control schemes.
  • Conduct research and develop recommendations for equipment and materials.
  • Perform engineering calculations related to lightning protection, conduit fill, station service loading, surge arrester sizing, and voltage drop.
  • Create RTU control, status, and analog point lists, raceway / cable schedules, and signage.
  • Develop electrical design deliverables, including protection and control design.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining engineering standards.
  • Provide technical guidance.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines.
  • Possibly perform QA / QC.
  • Attend client and project meetings.
  • Maintain client relations.
  • Adhere to budget, schedule, and quality requirements.
  • Maintain a safe work environment.

Education :

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.

    • Skills / Experience :

  • 2-5 years of high voltage substation design experience.
  • Knowledge of utility standards, NESC, construction techniques.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and Bluebeam Revu preferred.
  • EIT in pursuit of PE License.
  • Willingness to travel.
