Job Title : -Licensed Practical Nurse

Duration : 7+ months
Note : The LPN position reports to the Tennessee Rehabilitation Center on a regular schedule of Monday through Friday 8am - 4 : 30pm.
Each shift is 7.5 hours of work and an off the clock 1 hour lunch break.
DESCRIPTION :
This Licensed Practical Nurse position will instruct TRC students Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) curriculum in a State of TN Recognized Education / Training Program.
The curriculum includes all current requirements of the State of TN CNA Certification and will help prepare students to take the CNA Exam.
The topics taught will include, but are not limited to, Communication while Maintaining Quality of Life, Aging and Chronic Disease Management with Care Environments including Comfort and Care for End of Life, Preventing Infections while Providing Personal Care, Core Nursing including Positioning, Nutrition and Elimination, Safety and Emergency Care, and CPR.
This position will also provide LPN duties on an "as needed" basis in the First Aid Center.
This position is intended to be a temp to hire position, and has the potential to turn into a full time state position after the 6 month contract period..
Required / Desired Skills
- Meet the basic CNA instructor requirements of the State of TN Dept. of Health
- Provide lecture and hands-on instruction for CNA students
- Complete all required paperwork, including but not limited to attendance records, grade sheets, and mid and end of semester reports
- Assist with CNA clinicals as needed
- Work as a team with the other CNA instructor and CNA Coordinator for the best delivery of student services
- Respond to medical emergencies across campus.
- Collaborate with other professional members of the interdisciplinary team.
- Attend meetings as required by supervisor.
- Adhering to established protocols and procedures.
- Work with a variety of students who have physical, mental, and developmental disabilities.
- Manage supplies and inventory in a fiscally responsible way.
- Be prompt and on time according to schedule.
- Present to customers in a cheerful, positive manner.
- Knowledge of the use of adaptive equipment (i.e. slide boards, walkers, wheelchairs, etc.)
Qualifications :
- Education and Experience : Currently licensed as a practical nurse.
- Necessary Special Qualifications : Currently licensed as a practical nurse with the State of Tennessee or holds a privilege to practice in the State of Tennessee under the Nurse Licensure Compact (NIC).
A valid motor vehicle operator license may be required
