The Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (APCO) International has an exciting opportunity available for an Instructional Designer .
The APCO Institute has a portfolio of 30 courses and provides training to over 35,000 public safety professionals annually through multiple modalities in-person and online.
This position will report to the APCO Institute Director working from the Daytona Beach office.
The Position :
The following are general descriptions of the essential job tasks of the position. Other related tasks may be assigned as necessary and appropriate.
- Design, develop, and revise instructional materials, including course outlines, lesson plans, multimedia content, assessments, and job aids.
- Apply instructional design theories, practices, and methods to create engaging and effective learning experiences.
- Develop online courses, e-learning modules, and blended learning solutions using a variety of authoring tools and learning management systems (LMS).
- Collaborate with subject matter experts to solicit their expertise and input to ensure accuracy and relevance of all training materials and content.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of instructional materials and programs through data analysis and learner feedback and Implement revisions and updates to course content based on evaluation results and industry standards.
- Manage multiple program development projects simultaneously by prioritizing project deadlines. Track program development life cycles, ensuring any problems are addressed, escalated when needed, and resolved quickly.
- Develop and deliver presentations on behalf of APCO Institute at state, regional and national industry conferences.
- Serve as a member of the APCO Institute Leadership Team.
- Complete special projects as directed by the Institute Director
Minimum Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Curriculum Development, Education, or related field (masters degree preferred).
2-5 years of experience in instructional design or a related area.
Demonstrated expertise in technical writing, training course curriculum development and training instruction, preferably in the public safety communications field.
