Assignment :
Behavior Specialist (Employer is Edustaff) The Behavior Specialist is an employee of Edustaff and conducts and documents home visits for purposes
such as school / home relations, health, personal / family concerns, principal and teachers request for attendance, achievement and other Title I concerns.
Placement : Flint Community Schools (specific school location to be determined)
Essential Job Functions (note this is not an exhaustive list of the duties performed for this position) :
Provide opportunities for the teacher to share knowledge of a childs behavior and develop comprehensive plans for continuous improvement with the teacher, family member, internal and external support staff.
Coordinate meetings with the principal, teachers, parents and students to address behavioral issues of Title I students.
Stimulate growth of self-concept in Title 1 children and parents.
Utilize community resources for referring Title I children and parents to the appropriate community agency.
Keep updated files regarding Title one children and parents.
Attend monthly professional staff development session, as appropriate.
Build strong relationship with Title 1 parents and community.
Represent the District and Edustaff in a professional manner by performing all job functions at a satisfactory or above level.
Interact with co-workers, administration, students, parents, and the community in positive, supportive, and cooperative ways.
Performs other related duties, including special projects, as required or requested, consistent with reasonable expectations for the contracted position.
Qualifications :
Associate degree, or 60 credits, in a related field from an accredited institution of higher education is required.
Two years of full-time experience in one of the following fields may be substituted for the degree requirement : substitute teacher, social work technician, certified behavior analyst technician, counselor, paraprofessional, or similar field working with K-12 children promoting positive behaviors.
Bachelors degree, preferred.
Experience with behaviorally challenged children.
Experience working with children and parents in the home / school setting.
Prior successful demonstrated work experience working with youth an urban community is preferred.
Physical Requirements :
Ability to sit / stand for extended periods of time
Continuously required to talk and hear
Occasional bending / squatting / reaching / kneeling / twisting
Work Year, Hours & Compensation :
$20.00 per hour, days per year, 35 hours per week, non-exempt
