Job Summary : Sigma HomeCare is seeking compassionate and dedicated Contingent Direct Care Workers to provide high-quality care and support to individuals with severe mental illness (SMI), serious emotional disturbance (SED), and intellectual and developmental disabilities (I / DD) on an as-needed basis.
The Contingent Direct Care Worker will assist clients with daily living activities, promote independence, and ensure a safe and supportive environment.
This role is essential in helping our clients lead fulfilling lives within their communities.
Key Responsibilities :
- Personal Care : Assist clients with personal hygiene tasks such as bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting. Provide mobility support, including transfers and positioning, to ensure clients' comfort and safety.
- Daily Living Activities : Aid in meal preparation, feeding, and nutritional support tailored to each client's needs. Assist with household tasks, including cleaning, laundry, and organizing to maintain a safe and comfortable living environment.
- Emotional and Social Support : Build and maintain positive relationships with clients, providing companionship and emotional support.
Facilitate social interaction and help clients develop and maintain social skills and relationships.
Health Monitoring and Medication Administration : Administer medications and monitor clients' health status as directed by healthcare professionals.
Report any changes in clients' conditions to the supervisor promptly to ensure timely intervention.
- Documentation and Reporting : Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of client care, activities, and progress. Ensure all documentation complies with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Safety and Emergency Protocols : Follow established health and safety protocols, including infection control and emergency procedures.
Monitor the physical environment for safety hazards and take corrective action as needed. Provide first aid or CPR in emergency situations if necessary.
Qualifications :
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Previous experience in direct care, home health, or a related field is preferred but not required.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients, families, and team members.
- Compassionate, patient, and empathetic attitude, with a genuine desire to help others.
- Ability to lift and transfer clients safely and perform physical tasks as required by the job.
Working Conditions :
- Work is performed in clients' homes, group homes, or community settings, requiring travel within Wayne County.
- Flexible work schedule, including availability for on-call shifts, evenings, weekends, and holidays, to meet clients' needs.
- Exposure to various health conditions and environments may occur, requiring adherence to strict health and safety protocols.
