General Purpose : The VP of Sales and Marketing is a member of our Leadership Team and is ultimately responsible for overseeing and bringing in all new sales revenue, developing and leading our marketing efforts, building out and overseeing the sales and marketing team, and growing our brand as an equity first Agency.

This is both a strategic and tactical position you will wear a few different hats, especially for the first 18-24 months.

What You Will Be Doing : Creating a More Just and Equitable Society

In this newly created role you will be building and leading our sales and marketing team. You will manage the full sales lifecycle to meet / exceed yearly revenue targets with clients in both the public and private sectors.

You will increase market share and establish the Agency as a leading voice in equity focused communications.

You will be meeting weekly as part of the Leadership Team to communicate updates, recommendations, goals and results.

You will be hiring, training, and coaching team members, leading them with compassion and accountability, fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration.

And you will work closely with other departments to ensure alignment of overall business objectives and drive sustainable revenue growth.

Who You Are

You are an experienced sales and marketing leader who has previously worked in sales, marketing or business development at a creative, marketing, communications or PR agency or at a professional services firm.

Key Responsibilities

Senior Communications Manager work closely with and report to Agency Leadership and have the following key responsibilities :

Establishing clear and achievable sales goals and objectives in alignment with the Agency’s overall business objectives.

Defining, developing, and executing comprehensive sales plans to achieve revenue growth

  • Managing the full sales lifecycle of all new leads fielding, consulting, pitching and selling new accounts.
  • Generating leads (both public and private sector) through networking, events, leveraging online platforms, and other tactics.
  • Initiating contact with potential clients to understand their needs and introduce our services. Conducting presentations to showcase our expertise and value.
  • Cultivating strong relationships with potential clients, clients, and stakeholders to drive business opportunities and maintain client satisfaction.
  • Addressing client inquiries, concerns, or objections in a professional and timely manner.
  • Creating and delivering persuasive sales presentations tailored to the needs of each client highlighting the unique selling points and value proposition of our services.
  • Negotiating contract terms and conditions with clients to reach mutually beneficial agreements. Closing sales deals and achieving or exceeding sales targets.

Leveraging the CEO when appropriate to close a deal.

  • Participating in the creation of sales budgets and then managing budgets and resources effectively to optimize ROI and ensure the efficient execution of sales initiatives.
  • Tracking key performance indicators (KPIs), analyzing sales data, and preparing regular reports to evaluate performance and identity areas for improvement.
  • Maintaining accurate records of sales activities, including client interactions, sales calls, and deals closed.
  • Preparing regular reports on sales and marketing performance for the Leadership Team.
  • Following up with clients post-sale to ensure satisfaction and address any additional needs. Seeking opportunities for upselling or cross-selling additional services.

Marketing

  • Defining, developing, and executing annual and quarterly marketing strategies to drive market share and enhance brand visibility.
  • Growing inbound marketing traffic and leads for the Agency.
  • Growing our equity first brand
  • Conducting market research to identify potential opportunities, challenges, emerging trends, customer needs, and competitive landscapes to inform marketing developments.
  • Cultivating strong relationships with potential partners to drive business opportunities.
  • Creating and managing marketing budgets and resources effectively to optimize ROI and ensure the efficient execution of marketing initiatives.
  • Setting key marketing performance benchmarks
  • Analyzing marketing campaign performance, tracking key performance indicators (KPIs), and preparing regular reports to evaluate performance and identity areas for improvement.
  • Developing messaging and positioning strategies to effectively communicate the value proposition of our services to targeted audiences.
  • Maintaining accurate records of marketing activities, including marketing campaign metrics. Prepare regular reports for the Leadership Team.

Processes, Systems, Documentation

  • Creating and executing appropriate sales and marketing processes and standard operating procedures, refining and updating as appropriate.
  • Ensuring all sales activities and next steps are thoroughly documented in our CRM (monday.com)
  • Staying abreast of industry best practices, emerging technologies, and market dynamics to continuously refine sales and marketing strategies and processes.

Leadership and Management

  • Providing leadership, guidance, and mentorship to all team members fostering a culture of excellence and accountability.
  • Actively participate in working on the Agency to accelerate the achievement of our growth strategy.
  • Providing feedback and suggestions to the Leadership Team regarding client preferences, market trends, and competitive landscape.
  • Collaborating not only with the entire Business Development Team but also members of other departments to ensure alignment and synergy and a client-centric approach.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in business, marketing, communications or a related field.
  • Sales experience in an Agency environment (Communications, PR, Marketing, Advertising, Public Affairs, etc) strongly preferred.
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in a sales role (selling services)
  • 5+ years of marketing experience
  • 5+ years of experience in building and maintaining client relationships
  • 4+ years of leading and managing teams
  • Proven experience driving business revenue and results through digital marketing strategies.
  • Proven track record in closing new business through full sales cycle
  • Additional certifications or courses in sales techniques, negotiation, or relevant industry knowledge, a plus!
  • Familiarity with CRM systems and sales tools to effectively manage leads, pipeline, and sales activities. Monday.com experience is strongly preferred.
