Departmental Overview

The Berkeley School of Education (BSE) is a professional school that offers doctoral degrees with 12 concentrations, master's degrees, master's / credentials programs, and an undergraduate minor degree.

In addition to research, the school is highly visible in its international, national, state-wide, and local outreach, professional development, and enrichment programs.

The Leadership Programs match the overall scope of the BSE. Its offerings include 1 professional doctorate (EdD), the Principal Leadership Institute (MA + Preliminary Administrative Services Credential), Leadership Support (Clear Administrative Services Credential), the 21CSLA State Center (a grant-funded project of the California Department of Education), 21CSLA Regional Center, 21 CSLA Universal Transitional Kindergarten (UTK) and other grant and revenue- generated work.

The current budget of the Leadership Programs is approximately $5 million annually and involves 5 directors, 3 coordinators, as well as over 40 lecturers, field program supervisors, graduate student researchers, and other staff.

Position Overview

The Public Education Coordinator will collaborate with the 21CSLA Bay Area Regional Academy (BARA) team to support the professional learning, coaching, and research initiatives of the BARA, and will require deep knowledge of the field of educational leadership and public TK-12 education.

The Public Education Coordinator will support the BARA director and team to carry out research-driven projects that involve needs assessment, planning, self-study, synthesis, and iterative change management.

This involves designing, conducting, promoting, and supporting various educational programs for practicing educational leaders across our six-county region.

The Public Education Coordinator will research and assess the educational needs and interests for various types of educational leaders in the region such as teacher leaders, assistant principals, principals, and district office leaders, and develop programs, materials, technology and learning approaches accordingly in collaboration with TK-12 and higher education partners.

Responsibilities

  • Establishes evaluation criteria for measuring desired results and impact.
  • Uses considerable discretion to determine methods and procedures to support the research initiatives of the Bay Area Regional Academy
  • Plans and develops professional learning offerings based on needs assessment of local leaders.
  • Evaluates prospective program partnerships.
  • Recruits, selects, orients, evaluates and supervises professional development providers.
  • Develops, prepares and reconciles budget for program(s).
  • Evaluates and adjusts course content through evaluations and levels of interest shown.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
  • Uses business software systems in the completion of work assignments (for example, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
  • Possesses advanced knowledge of the full scope of TK-12 public education learning environments such as in person training, coaching, blended learning, and independent study.
  • Possesses advanced strategic planning, analytical, problem solving, interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
  • Possesses advanced knowledge of financial forecasting and budget oversight for an organization of comparable size or larger as well as market and business strategies appropriate to the field of education.
  • Demonstrates through knowledge of TK-12 education policies and procedures; advanced knowledge of CA TK-12 education as well as the field of educational leadership.
  • Possesses successful experience as a TK-12 teacher, TK-12 educational leader including school site and / or district office.
  • Possesses successful experience working collaboratively on small and large scale projects.
  • Possesses successful experience in event planning and project management.
  • Continuing education in related field.

This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, analysis of internal equity, and other business and organizational needs.

It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience.

The budgeted salary range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $109,000.00 - $140,400.00, annually.
