Cornerstone is looking for candidates located in our 5 state region of Texas, Missouri, Kansas, Arkansas, and Oklahoma. This position involves travel up to 50% of the time to various credit unions in these states for audit completion.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

Position Reports To : Internal Audit Field Supervisor

Position Supervises : N / A

Summary of Position

Performs internal audit functions in larger, more complex credit unions to include compliance, operations, controls, lending, and other projects determined in the itinerary developed with the assistance of management, supervisory committee, and the board of directors.

Review policies and procedures, testing for adherence and financial information.

Essential Functions

  • Review credit union policies, procedures, and documentation for adequacy, accuracy, and compliance with regulations, established guidelines, and approved instructions of officials and management.
  • Prepare and complete work papers documenting internal audit procedures performed.
  • Prepare written reports of internal audit findings.
  • Review credit union internal controls and recommend improvements if needed.
  • Communicate information needed and results of internal audit procedures to credit union employees and officials.
  • Prepare a monthly schedule of internal audit assignments to be performed.
  • Develop an annual itinerary of audit procedures to be conducted over the year based on the frequency of visits.
  • Monitor the timeliness of internal audit assignments and reports and inform management of discrepancies.
  • Develop guidelines for internal audit procedures, reporting, descriptions, and documentation.
  • Performs BSA and ACH audits and creates written reports and oral presentations.
  • Perform ACH audits and create written reports and oral presentations.

Qualifications

Education / Certification : These characteristics are normally acquired through a high school education and a Bachelor’s Degree in Business specializing in Accounting or Finance or equivalent experience.

Required Knowledge : Work required accounting knowledge, the ability to use word processing, spreadsheets, computer operating systems, credit analysis, report-writing, and presentation.

Experience Required : At least three years of similar or related experience is required.

Skills / Abilities : Professional, well-developed interpersonal skills necessary for communicating with internal clients and management and for projecting a positive image as a representative of Cornerstone Resources.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION

Travel up to 50% is a requirement. Work requires sitting for the majority of the day. Work also requires frequent lifting of up to 35 lbs.

MENTAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION

Reasoning Ability : Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved instructions and to deal with problems involving some variables.

Mathematics Ability : Ability to perform basic math skills, including adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing two-digit numbers : to perform the four basic arithmetic operations with money.

Language Ability : Ability to write complex sentences, use proper punctuation, and use adjectives and adverbs.
