Manager of IT Quality Assurance

Job Summary :

The IT Quality Assurance Manager is tasked with providing the technical expertise, best practices, and leadership for the IT Quality Assurance team, which is responsible for testing custom web-based applications that meet the needs of our internal business users and external customers.

Also responsible for leading and participating in the quality assurance team to deliver quality solutions aligned with long-term business and technical objectives while optimizing testing practices to support the continuous improvement and reliability of application development.

A commitment to collaborative problem solving, communication and quality product is essential.

Duties / Responsibilities :

• Manage daily activities of the quality assurance team.
• Focused on testing of business-critical applications that enable the business to succeed.
• Hire, develop, and coach quality assurance team members.
• Lead implementation of testing best practices that ensure the appropriate level of code. coverage, test documentation, and execution of regression testing.
• Perform test planning, defect documentation, test execution within development sprints.
• Innovate and optimize testing processes and standards, driving adoption within team.
• Participate in delivery of quality application development projects.
• Participate in an agile team, collaborating with developers and other IT personnel.
• Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of Kinetic's business and IT application portfolio.

Requirements

Education and Experience :

• Minimum of 5 years prior experience performing quality assurance within the software development lifecycle. 2+ years previous people management experience preferred
• Familiarity with testing and defect tracking tools and methods.
• Experience with iterative, incremental software development processes.
• Previous experience with the agile software development process and ADO is a plus.
• Previous experience working with commercial lending and financial data is a plus.

Required Skills / Abilities :

• Demonstrated success in leading quality assurance efforts and defining testing strategies.
• Experience in testing accountability for complex IT applications development.
• Comprehensive knowledge with respect to the following :

o Validation of cases against Web Services (XML, JSON, REST)

o Validation of cases against Web-based front-ends (Angular, React, Vue.js, etc.)

o Querying for validation against Relational Databases (SQL Server preferred)

• Ability to write clearly defined and articulate test cases.
• Ability to collaborate, validate, and assist in prioritizing requirements for projects and requests.
• Ability to properly assess and articulate risk.
• Familiar with Postman for integration testing.
• Working knowledge of toolsets such as Work Requests Systems (ADO, JIRA, etc...) and Distributed Version Control Systems
• Strong problem-solving abilities, interpersonal and communication skills, and facilitation.

Physical Requirements :

• Ability to sit at a desk and work on a computer for prolonged periods of time.
• Must be able to communicate clearly.
• Ability to operate computer and office equipment, maintain paper files, move about an office environment.
• Must be able to move objects up to 20 pounds.
• Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
