Bilingual Legal Assistant (English AND Spanish) Location : Brookhaven, GA
Job Description : Our busy and fast-paced immigration law firm in Brookhaven, GA is currently seeking an experienced Bilingual Legal Assistant with a strong background in USCIS and Consular Processing matters.
The ideal candidate should have at least 1 to 2 years of experience in immigration law, be fluent in Spanish, and possess expertise in completing USCIS and Department ofd State forms and handling various immigration processes, including I-130, I-485, I-601, I-601A waivers, U-Visa, DACA, TPS, and Consular processing.
Applicants failing to meet minimum 1-2 year experience as an immigration legal assistant / paralegal WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES : (Under the supervision of Attorney / Manager or Lead Paralegal)
- Complete USCIS and DOS forms accurately and efficiently
- Prepare immigration submission packets as assigned by the manager and / or supervising attorney for submission to the appropriate government agency.
- Work closely with the manager to manage cases and to meet monthly filing goals.
- Understand the procedures and documentation required for cases to be filed successfully and timely.
- Work with clients to gather the necessary information and documentation.
- Ensure all deadlines are met including, but not limited to, deadlines for Requests for Evidence, Notices of Intent to Deny, Motions to Reopen, and / or Appeals.
- Possess adequate knowledge about aforementioned forms of immigration relief and be able to effectively communicate with clients about the status of their cases.
- Assist Attorneys and support staff in managing client cases
- Translate documents as needed
SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Make photocopies; Send emails and scan documents
- Retrieve and / or return files
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS :
- Spanish fluency
- Bachelor's Degree preferred
- 1-2 years of experience in immigration law, required. Emphasis in Consular Processing, preferred
