PrideStaff Financial has partnered with a leading education provider with a long-standing reputation for excellence in educational management.
Client is excited to embark on a new venture the development of a state-of-the-art school in Delray Beach. As they prepare to open the doors to a new generation of students, they seek a highly motivated and experienced Assistant Controller to join their team.
Ideal candidate would have a minimum of 5 years of financial management experience to lead and manage the financial operations for the construction and development of the new school.
This is a unique opportunity to work with a dynamic startup team, with the potential for career growth as the school evolves from the construction phase to full operation.
You will be responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of the school’s development, including budgeting, reporting, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.
You will work closely with the executive team as well as local project managers, and be instrumental in ensuring that the financial foundation of the school is solid as they move toward opening day.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and manage financial models, forecasts, and budgets for the school's construction and initial operations.
- Provide regular financial reports to both the local team and the international-based executives, ensuring transparency and accuracy.
- Ensure compliance with U.S. financial regulations, including tax filings, audits, and financial controls.
- Oversee cost management for the construction project, ensuring expenditures align with the budget and identifying areas for cost savings.
- Work closely with project managers, architects, and contractors to monitor project costs and cash flow.
- Establish and manage day-to-day financial operations, including payroll, invoicing, and accounts payable / receivable as the school progresses towards opening.
- Assist in the development of long-term financial strategies to support the school post-construction and during the opening phase.
Qualifications for the Assistant Controller
- B.S. in Accounting or Finance, MBA / CPA preferred
- 5+ years of related experience
- Strong understanding of U.S. financial regulations and compliance.
- Proven ability to manage budgets, financial planning, and reporting in a complex, evolving environment
- Experience with financial ERP software and advanced Excel skills. JD Edwards a plus
- Experience working with a startup team is highly desirable
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally between U.S. and London teams.
- Must be a proven hands-on team player driven to meet company goals
- Ability to travel occasionally for site visits and meetings
