Maintenance Director

1. Must be licensed in accordance with current applicable standards, codes, labor laws, etc.

2. Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.

3. Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.

4. Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies / personnel, and the general public.

5. Must be knowledgeable of maintenance practices and procedures, as well as the laws, regulations and guidelines governing maintenance functions in the long-term care facility.

6. Must possess leadership ability and willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise other personnel.

7. Must have the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, procedures, etc.

8. Must maintain the care and use of supplies, equipment, etc., and maintain the appearance of maintenance areas; must perform regular inspections of resident rooms / units for order, safety, and proper performance of equipment.

9. Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm, as well as be willing to handle residents based on whatever maturity level they are currently functioning.

10. Must possess the ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing maintenance practices.

11. Must possess the ability to plan and carry out programs in repair, new construction, and equipment installation.

12. Must be able to relate information concerning a resident's condition.

13. Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the workplace.

Qualifications :

1. Must have, as a minimum, 2 years experience in a supervisory capacity, in a maintenance / plant related position within the healthcare field.

2. Must be knowledgeable of boilers, compressors, generators, PTAC units etc., as well as various mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems.

3. Must be knowledgeable in building codes and safety regulations.

4. Must have long term care experience.
