ESY Program Description : Extended School Year (ESY) is an individualized instructional program for eligible students with disabilities that is provided beyond the regular school year.

The ESY teacher is responsible for planning, delivering and evaluating instruction, based on specific goals and objectives established by the IEP team and lessons developed by the child’s classroom teacher.

ESY Teacher Job Summary :

Provide specialized instruction to students who require Extended School Year (ESY) services. Collaborate with EC Director, teachers and related services personnel to address goals outlined on the ESY plan of their IEP for the successful implementation of ESY.

Education and Experience :

Must hold or be eligible for a NC Teacher License with endorsement in Special Education.

Must hold a bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution.

Must have record of successful special education teaching experience, student teaching experience or a comparable amount of training and experience in the field of special education.

Duties and Responsibilities :

Plan and maintain a program of instruction that is conducive to the attainment of individual students’ ESY goals and objectives on their IEP.

Apply appropriate strategies to educate students with special needs in compliance with Local, State and Federal regulations.

Engage students in learning.

Monitor student progress toward achievement of instructional goals and complete end of ESY progress reports.

Develop and nurture the emotional, cognitive and social abilities of the students.

Demonstrate clear and accurate oral and written communication.

Interact with students in a polite, caring and respectful manner.

Use Positive Discipline to respond to student misbehavior appropriately and successfully.

Demonstrate regular and predictable behavior.

Work cooperatively with staff, students and parents.

Maintains high standards of ethical behavior and confidentiality of student information.

ESY Program Schedule :

June 18, 2024 Teacher ESY Preparation 8 : 00 a.m.-12 : 00 p.m.

June 24, 2024 July 25, 2024 8 : 00 a.m. 12 : 00 p.m.

Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays

ESY Staff Requirements :

Instructional staff are required to work from 8 : 00 a.m.-12 : 00 p.m.

8 : 00-8 : 30 30 minutes of daily planning

3 and ½ hours for student programming

Please note that final staffing is based upon student enrollment.

Plan, implement, and monitor Extended School Year (ESY) services for a group of students.
