As an accounting clerk you will provide accounting and clerical support to the accounting department for effective handling of financial records and operations.

Responsibilities

• Maintains records and files, including accounts payable and accounts receivable documentation, journal and general ledger documentation and other miscellaneous filings.
• Enters data into spreadsheets and prepares assigned reports.
• Assists in a variety of accounts payable duties to include sorting and matching checks and invoices, inserting checks into envelopes, researching information, entering credit memos, verifying accuracy of credit entries and updating system to ensure credits are processed.
• Assists in a variety of accounts receivable duties to include sorting and matching checks and invoices, posting cash, check and credit card payments to the proper accounts, preparing bank deposit slips, recording cash receipt information, reviewing credit memos and / or refunds and applying adjustments to accounts as necessary, performing basic collection activities, and reviewing accounts receivable aging remits and gathering details on delinquent accounts.
• Prepares correspondence to assist in answering inquiries and resolving discrepancies.
• Creates customer and vendor files, files invoices and copies of checks and updates customer and vendor information.
• Communicates with customers, vendors and departmental personnel via telephone, email and written correspondence to answer inquiries and provide information.
• Assists in preparing month-end reporting to include printing various reports and creating spreadsheets.
• Assists in preparing daily and weekly reports.
• Performs special projects and performs other general office duties as required.
• May manage schedules, make appointments, and answer incoming telephone calls.

Qualifications

• HS diploma, or GED equivalent, is required. Related experience and / or advanced training or any equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
• Previous experience in accounting and knowledge of basic bookkeeping and / or accounting principles desired.
• Typing or keyboarding experience required.
• Ability to work 7 a.m. to 11 : 00 a.m. Sunday through Thursday
• Proficient in all Microsoft programs, particularly excel
• Knowledge of accounting software is desired.
• Must be able to use a calculator, create and interpret spreadsheets and operate general office machines
• Strong communications and multi-tasking skills
