DESCRIPTION

Resolves a wide range of business process issues of moderate to complex scope. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques to obtain solutions. Applies business process and analysis concepts and department / unit and location policies and procedures to resolve a variety of business process problems.

As a Business Systems Analyst, incumbent will be focused primarily on gathering functional and technical requirements by understanding moderate to complex business processes related to student lifecycle management and designing solutions leveraging commercial off-the-shelf and custom developed solutions. Works at a high technical level of various phases of systems analysis. Considers the business implications of applying technology to current and future business processes. Effectively communicates insights and plans to cross-functional team members and management. Responsible for all steps of the project lifecycle from definition to requirements analysis, testing, and rollout. Works closely with business and technical project managers on departmental solutions across UC San Diego.

This position will play a role in the process design and implementation of key Student Systems including (but not limited to) major ERP implementations such as core Student Information System, Transaction processing system, and the remediation or deprecation of current systems. This will include activities in the maintenance, enhancement, and transformation of SIS applications and processes.

Prepares and approves or obtains approval for business processes and procedural documentation. Initiates and oversees changes in processes and procedures. Sets the technical requirements for moderate to complex specifications. Works directly with University stakeholders, ITS service providers, and vendors to manage, coordinate and lead the documentation of requirements, workflows, and data.

~ This position offers a hybrid (remote / on-site) work arrangement with a requirement of at least 3 days onsite.

~ Work location is at Division of Extended Studies'- 8980 Villa La Jolla Dr.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.

Thorough knowledge of business and process analysis functions. Demonstrated experience with analysis of processes and issues, information flow and architecture. Analytical skills to identify, analyze, and organize processing requirements, documentation, and data. Demonstrated knowledge of data processing principles, practices, terminology, and their application in an enterprise environment.

Thorough Knowledge of related areas of IT. Including, but not limited to, application development, systems integration, infrastructure, databases, mobile and desktop user interfaces, and commodity IT solutions.

Strong skills and knowledge of methodologies associated with analysis of processes and problems, information flow and architecture. Thorough skills and knowledge of methodologies associated with process and software design, modification and implementation.

In-depth understanding and skill in process and systems requirement documentation standards, such as Use Case modeling, User Story creations and narrative description.

Demonstrated ability to work with others from diverse backgrounds. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with persons and groups of employees in order to bring together their ideas and encourage them to meet team objectives. Ability to collaborate effectively with management, supervisors, peers and co-workers within the organization to gain knowledge of work situations requiring training and to better understand changes in policies, procedures, regulations, business initiatives and technologies.

Self-motivated and works independently and as part of a team. Able to learn effectively and meet deadlines. Demonstrates problem solving skills.

Broad knowledge relating to software design. Experience with environment & release management as it relates to configuration of vended platforms.

Thorough knowledge of business processes and procedures.

Demonstrated testing and test planning skills.

Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to communicate technical information to technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization. Interpersonal and communications skills to work with both technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization. Skill in establishing rapport and trust. Demonstrated ability to effectively work with and establish credibility with employees, managers, and business partners across functional lines.

Strong analytic, inductive, and deductive reasoning skills. Ability to define problems clearly, and to think creatively and efficiently to analyze problems and their solutions, often under extreme pressure. Demonstrated experience in problem-solving techniques with administrative information systems.

Demonstrated project management skills to effectively manage complex projects, or highly specialized and critical project components. Demonstrated experience with process analysis, systems analysis, process architectures and systems analysis methodologies and practices including traditional waterfall, Agile, Agile Scrum, et cetera.

Demonstrated skills needed to develop process and system implementation plans.

Experience with design and development of training programs and materials for business process and specific information systems applications. Ability to coordinate, schedule and deliver training content utilizing different media types. Ability to adapt the training needs of others at various learning levels.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range : $79,200 - $143,400 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent : $37.93 - $68.68

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
